A Quiet Place: Day One is dominating the box office, but Inside Out 2 is also holding strong. The Quiet Place prequel was first released on June 27 and has been outperforming expectations by a large margin. Inside Out‘s sequel has also been dominating the box office since it was first released on June 14 and has thrived with little competition. They have very different genres, as Quiet Place is violent and horrifying, while the Pixar hit is an animated story about emotion and personal growth.

Despite their differences, Deadline reports that the two movies are in tight competition. A Quiet Place debuted to a projected $53 million on the weekend, which would be a franchise record. Its competition, however, is expecting between $55 million and $59 million in its third weekend. As the two continue to battle for the top spot at the box office, Day One earned $22.5 million on its opening day, while Inside Out 2 brought in $17.1 million on the same day.
