While it may be a while before Invincible returns for season 3, its next story is already clear, but one other superhero show is already exploring this narrative, and it’s airing right now. Invincible season 2’s ending showcased Mark defeating Angstrom Levy and permanently changing in the process. Mark’s brutal beatdown seemingly killed the villain and set up a darker future, making his impending battle with the Viltrumites even more difficult. With Omni-Man failing to convince Mark to conquer Earth, other Viltrumites have approached the hero, threatening to do it themselves if Mark refuses to comply with their mission.

This sets up season 3’s main story as Mark looks set to protect Earth from a potential Viltrumite invasion. Given that the Viltrumites have been Invincible‘s overarching villains throughout the entire series, their presence will only increase in the show’s upcoming season. While this is the main storyline to expect in Invincible season 3, it seems one other superhero show has been inspired by Prime Video’s hit series. Despite there being some key differences, an ongoing superhero show is telling its own version of Invincible season 3’s story, with new episodes coming out every week.

My Adventures With Superman Season 2 Has A Huge Similarity To Invincible’s Viltrumite Story

My Adventures With Superman’s Brainiac Story Resembles Invincible’s Viltrumite Conflict

With Invincible‘s Viltrumite story heating up in season 2, it’s no surprise other shows may take inspiration, and My Adventures with Superman has done exactly that. The animated Superman show is currently airing its second season, and its ongoing story involves Primus Brainiac manipulating Superman and Supergirl into conquering planets for the Kryptonian Empire. Episode 6 revealed that Kara had been brainwashed into destroying planets despite believing she was helping them. While it seems like she may snap out of Brainiac’s control soon, the latest episode suggests that Clark could be the villain’s next pawn in his evil scheme.

This storyline has been one of the show’s best and makes up for Superman’s recent live-action disappointments, but the arc feels very similar to Invincible‘s Viltrumite plot. Omni-Man trying to manipulate Mark into conquering Earth feels similar to what Brainiac is doing with Clark and Kara. Both shows have protagonists who have ties to alien species that want to conquer Earth, giving these stories similar vibes. While this isn’t the first time DC have explored this concept Superman, Brainiac’s role in My Adventures with Superman feels reminiscent of the Viltrumites in Invincible, creating an entertaining parallel between the shows.

Mark’s Refusal To Conquer Earth Will Be Invincible Season 3’s Biggest Story

Invincible Season 3 Will Focus On Mark Defying The Viltrumites

Although the Viltrumites tried to make Mark conquer Earth, his refusal to do so will be Invincible season 3’s biggest story. After Omni-Man was unsuccessful in making Mark join his task to conquer Earth, he left the planet and betrayed the Viltrum Empire, but this didn’t stop the evil group from making their presence known in season 2. Several Viltrumites were introduced last season and demanded Mark continue his father’s mission; however, Mark refused, setting up season 3’s main story. Despite Earth having strong heroes, defending the planet against the Viltrumites will be a near-impossible task on their own.

Invincible season 3 has already set up several villains who could pose a threat to Earth, and Mark’s valiant fight against them will be at the heart of the upcoming story. Despite Anissa beating him close to death in season 2, Mark still refused to join her and the Viltrum Empire, showing it will be hard to break the protagonist. With Allen the Alien and Omni-Man looking set to join Mark and Earth’s other heroes in fighting the Viltrumites, the excitement for season 3 is building, and it could be Invincible‘s best installment yet.

The next season looks like it will continue to be violent, and with some controversial storylines potentially on the horizon, Invincible season 3’s war could be fought both physically and mentally. As has been the case in the previous two outings, there will likely be other major plots, but Mark defying the Viltrumites seems like it will be the core theme of season 3, meaning plenty of heavy moments could be around the corner.

Can My Adventures With Superman’s Kryptonian Arc Do Invincible’s Viltrumite Story Better?

My Adventures With Superman’s Kryptonian Arc Is The Show’s Most Exciting Story Yet

My Adventures with Superman‘s Kryptonian story is gearing up to be the series’ best arc yet, but it will have a tough time surpassing Invincible‘s Viltrumite narrative. While the show is only in its second season, the Kryptonian story could end up being My Adventures with Superman‘s best-ever tale. It will force Clark to try and fight off one of DC’s most powerful villains, prove to Earth he isn’t the monster they think he is, and it will allow Kara to become Supergirl. This makes it an incredibly engaging premise, but Invincible‘s Viltrumite story still looks better.

Invincible Season 2 Teases A Viltrumite Even Worse Than Anissa Coming In Season 3

The character of Anissa introduced in Invincible season 2, episode 7 teases yet another Viltrumite for future seasons who is much worse than she is.

Whereas Superman’s animated show switches between multiple mini-storylines, Invincible‘s Viltrumite plot is its overarching narrative. Naturally, there is still plenty more going on in Invincible, but Mark’s fight against the Viltrum Empire has essentially been the focal point since season 1 and will continue to be the show’s priority for the majority of its tenure. Episode reviews show that My Adventures with Superman‘s Kryptonian plot is popular, and it could extend into season 3, but Invincible‘s Viltrumite story will continue for years and be far bigger than Superman’s current arc, making it the more memorable storyline.

Based on the comic book character by Robert Kirkman, Invincible follows Mark Grayson,  a seventeen-year-old who leads a seemingly average life save for the fact that he lives behind the shadow of his superhero father, Omni-Man. Mark goes on to develop superhuman abilities, but he must also learn that his father’s legacy isn’t as glitzy and glamorous as he’s been led to believe.
