Warning: Contains SPOILERS for The Boys season 4, episode 5!

The Boys season 4, episode 5 contains a horrifying Homelander scene, one that makes Gen V season 2 way more important for The Boys‘ ending. Despite being a spinoff, Gen V has proved to be very important to The Boys season 4, with it setting up the supe virus. Now, The Boys season 4 has shown that Gen V season 2 will be even more important, with Homelander now working alongside some major Gen V characters.

The Boys season 4 is finally here, with the highly anticipated continuation of Amazon Prime Video’s critically acclaimed superhero series now releasing on the streaming service. The Boys season 4 picks up right where The Boys season 3 ended, with the team attempting to stop Victoria Neuman from becoming Vice President of the United States while Butcher continues attempting to kill Homelander in secret. However, The Seven has also made some major moves in season 4 so far.

Sam & Cate’s Involvement In Homelander’s Plan Makes Their Gen V Season 2 Story More Intriguing

Gen V Could Be Integral To The Boys’ Ending

Sam and Cate turned out to be the villains of Gen V, and now they have become involved in Homelander’s plans. Since starting the Godolkin riots at the end of Gen V, Homelander has taken Sam and Cate under his wing, with them even hanging out at the top of Seven tower after a Vought event. Eventually, Homelander reveals that he believes Cameron Coleman is the source of a leak from within the Seven, with him commanding the surrounding supes to kill him.

Sam and Cate help kill Cameron Coleman, showing that they are fully part of Homelander’s plans in the world of The Boys. This makes Gen V season 2 more intriguing, as their villainous roles in the series could directly tie into the world of The Seven. Not only will Marie Moreau and the other Gen V supes have to face off against Sam and Cate, but potentially supes like Homelander, The Deep, and A-Train as well.

How Gen V Season 2 Can Set Up The Boys Season 5 (& The Main Show’s Ending)

Will Marie Join Hughie & Butcher?

Now that Sam and Cate are involved, Gen V can set up The Boys season 5 and the main show’s ending. Sam and Cate’s actions can cause Marie and her friends to join The Boys in their fight against Vought, giving Butcher, Hughie, and the rest of the team a lot more supes to help on their side.

On top of that, Sam and Cate can help recruit more supes for Homelander’s supe army, using their influence as the Guardians of Godolkin to pull college-age supes into their cause. This will directly continue their supe supremacist plan from the end of Gen V, raising the stakes of The Boysterrifying ending.

The Boys is a superhero/dark comedy satire series created by Eric Kripke based on the comic series of the same name. Set in a “what-if” world that reveres superheroes as celebrities and gods who experience minimal repercussions for their actions. However, one group of vigilantes headed by a vengeance-obsessed man named Billy Butcher will fight back against these super-charged “heroes” to expose them for what they are.
