The identity of Deku’s father has been one of the biggest mysteries inside the My Hero Academia universe. For many years, fans of the series have wondered who the mysterious man is, guided by the small and often unimportant clues given by the creator, Kohei Horikoshi.

Despite lacking information about this character, followers of Deku’s adventures have never lost interest in him. Yet, the announcement of the manga series coming to an end soon might indicate that the time for Deku’s father to be revealed has ended. The manga still has many issues to address, which would make it difficult for Izuku’s father to have a proper introduction.

Deku’s Father Would Not Have a Relevant Introduction, Taking Away From His Reveal

The Story Has No Time To Tie All of Its Loose Ends and Introduce a New Character

With the war over and All For One defeated, the story of My Hero Academia is rapidly approaching its end. After the release of chapter 425, it was revealed that the series would only continue for 5 more chapters before it was all over. These remaining entries will seemingly contain the epilogues of each of the series’ main characters, focusing on their lives after the conflict against Shigaraki’s army. Chapter 426 seems to be focusing on the Todoroki Family, implying that the following chapters will also focus on specific characters’ epilogues.

Adding to this, the heavily implied introduction of a new villain, as foreshadowed in chapter 425, there seems to be no time left for Izuku to reunite with his father. Izuku’s final moments in the series will most likely focus on him recovering the smile and hope that the war took from him. Even if his father is indeed introduced during the final chapters of the series, he would most likely not be crucial to the plot. The revelation of this long-awaited character would not feel as important as it could have been.

Deku’s Father Is Not Necessary for the Ending of the Story

Izuku’s Adventure Never Revolved Around His Absent Father FigureInko gifting Deku his first Hero costume, which she made herself by hand.

While Deku’s father has often been a trending topic among fans of the My Hero Academia franchise, the absence of the Midoriya patriarch has never affected the story. Deku has seldom talked about his father throughout the series, not even after important events like the war against All For One. Deku’s father could still be revealed in any of the remaining five chapters of the manga, yet that would not change anything. If Hisashi appears during the series’ final entries, it will likely be Horikoshi delivering on a promise he made five years ago.

Almost nothing is known about Deku’s father, and his sudden appearance in the series would do little to change this fact. The time for the man to involve himself in the life of his son has already passed. Deku already has a solid and loving support system by his side, in the form of his friends, his mentor All Might, and his mother. He became the world’s greatest Hero without his father being present in the manga. Deku’s epilogue will have the same significance for fans of Horikoshi’s work, whether Hisashi is present or not.

Soon, it will be time to say goodbye to one of the most successful and beloved manga in the world. My Hero Academia’s finale is likely to become one of the most iconic of all time. Whether Deku’s father is introduced to the story or not before the ending, the fact that this series will remain in fans’ hearts for years to come will not change.

My Hero Academia (2016)

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
