Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Boys season 4, episode 5, “Beware the Jabberwock, My Son.”

The Boys season 4, episode 5 features a Star Wars actor reunion, and it’s so detailed that it feels like it must be intentional. The Boys has become one of Amazon’s most successful TV shows, so it’s unsurprising that it features plenty of well-known stars from other franchises. Some of them have hilarious cameos in The Boys, like Will Ferrell and Charlize Theron, while others play more serious roles. And two of the actors who appear in season 4’s “Beware the Jabberwock, My Son” are also from the Star Wars universe.

Comically enough, the Star Wars actors’ reunion in The Boys season 4 mirrors their relationship from the sci-fi franchise. It’s great to see the stars on-screen together again, but it’s even more fascinating to watch them step into familiar roles. It probably isn’t intentional, but their time together is so detailed that it makes one wonder if the Amazon series planned it.

The Boys Season 4’s Actor Reunion Perfectly Mirrors Their Star Wars Roles

Giancarlo Esposito & Omid Abtahi Play Similar Characters In The Mandalorian

Giancarlo Esposito returns as Stan Edgar in The Boys season 4, episode 5, and Omid Abtahi also makes an appearance as Vought scientist Sameer Shah. Both actors are from The Mandalorian, and their roles in The Boys universe are strikingly similar to their Star Wars characters. Abtahi portrays Doctor Pershing in the Star Wars franchise, the scientist working for Moff Gideon when The Mandalorian opens. Esposito brings Gideon to life in the Disney+ series, and this villain is even more intimidating than Stan Edgar.

Esposito and Abtahi have a similar dynamic in The Boys, as Stan is the former CEO of Vought and one of the series’ overarching villains, while Sameer is one of Vought’s underlings. Sameer works for Stan before the latter goes to prison, just as Pershing works for Gideon. Sameer also seems dubious of his research for Vought and Victoria Neuman. This feels reminiscent of Pershing’s attitude when asked to experiment on Grogu in The Mandalorian. It’s no wonder Abtahi plays the role so well in The Boys, since it’s similar to his past work.

Anyone keeping up with The Boys knows Esposito by now, but viewers may find themselves wondering where else they recognize Abtahi from. The actor has appeared in other big franchises besides Star Wars, including The Hunger Games and The Walking Dead. He played Homes, one of the soldiers assigned to Katniss’ squad, in Mockingjay – Part 2. Additionally, he portrayed Howard in The Walking Dead prequel series, Fear the Walking Dead. Abtahi is also known for the TV series My Own Worst Enemy, Over There, and Sleeper Cell. Now he can add The Boys to his impressive list of credits.

Set in a “what-if” world that reveres superheroes as celebrities and gods who experience minimal repercussions for their actions.
