Delicious in Dungeon or Dungeon, Meshi has captured its loving audiences’ hearts, minds, and stomachs with its layered adventure featuring fantasy, friendship, and food. The series is more than its bountiful banquets in every episode, as the Kadokawa Shoten manga adaptation features characters and concepts that are a feast for the eyes. In one exquisite fanart piece, though, @explodikid on X may take the cake as the most significant sample platter of what’s to come for Delicious in Dungeon.

Delicious in Dungeon debuted its anime on Netflix on January 4, 2024, running for two consecutive cours with immediate renewal for a second season. Its viewership and critics make it increasingly clear that the series is excellent and in demand for the rest of the manga to be adapted, with multiple fascinating plot points in the balance.

However, this gorgeous Delicious in Dungeon fanart conveys the most important conflict, depicting a clash between Laios Touden’s party and the chimera form of Laios’ sister, Falin.

Delicious in Dungeon Fanart as Tragic as It Is Exquisite

A Faceoff That Speaks a Thousand Words to Fans

The reveal of Falin’s chimera form in Delicious in Dungeon season 1’s second cour is upsetting, but seeing @explodikid’s movie-worthy fanart of her eventual clash with her brother’s party is breathtaking. As discussed at the end of Delicious in Dungeon season 1, Laios, Marcille, Chilchuck, Senshi, and Izutsumi will eventually have to face Falin again in hopes of restoring her tallman form. However, to do so, the party must cut away the dragon parts joined to Falin as depicted in this fanart.

It’s a conflicting moment, especially as viewers were likely overjoyed to see Falin rescued and resurrected from the dragon’s corpse at the end of the first cour of Delicious in Dungeon. However, a sinister twist occurs when the remaining dragon meat is joined with Falin, creating a terrifying chimera that causes her soul to be layered on the fallen dragon’s, leading into season 2. The party, before facing Falin again, must release the Winged Lion in the depths of the dungeon, neutralize the mad mage controlling her, and then gather enough allies to consume the dragon flesh fused to her.

Delicious in Dungeon Fanart Has One Bespoke Detail

One Hero Risks Everything to Rescue Falin

Marcille Donato, the half-elf mage with a dark magic twist, is already known for her deeply affectionate relationship with Falin, especially as the anime hints at her bond being more than platonic. So the Delicious in Dungeon fanart’s creative choice to depict Marcille, who is usually among the most physically vulnerable members of the party, at the front to face Falin speaks volumes. At this point, Falin is Marcille’s driving force, and freeing her from her predicament is paramount.

Still, the rest of the scene cannot be overstated in how gorgeous it is. Laios is depicted heroically brandishing Kensuke, his sword, while Izutsumi and Chilchuck are also close by to join the fight. Senshi is also ready to fight despite his axes being in uncharacteristically good condition compared to his otherwise immaculate kitchenware. Finally, Falin herself is the most imposing figure in the Delicious in Dungeon fanart, with her wings spread and dragon claws ready to strike. Delicious in Dungeon fans will be eating well in season 2.
