Warning: This post contains spoilers for Evil season 4, episode 6 “How To Dance in Three Easy Steps.”

Evil star Christine Lahti hints that Sheryl’s character will not respond well to Leland’s latest nefarious ploy. During Evil season 4, episode 6, “How To Dance in Three Easy Steps, Sheryl undertakes a clandestine visit to her estranged daughter Kristen’s house, but while there, deduces that Leland has been trying to use a brainwashed Andy to harm her granddaughter Laura. Furious with his failed schemes, she then proceeds to trash Leland’s home and awaits his arrival with a knife in hand.

Speaking with TV Insider about Evil’s latest twist, Lahti suggests that her character’s uneasy alliance with Michael Emerson’s Leland is ready to come to a head. Recalling that her character previously warned that she would not tolerate any attempt to harm her grandchildren, Lahti says that Sheryl thinks that Leland has finally overstepped, and she is now “ready to destroy him.” Check out her comments below:

I think she is surprised, and I think she’s enraged, of course, because she did warn him, I think it was last season. She said, I will go along this ride with you. I will be your assistant in order to, I think, gain power over him ultimately. But she did warn him that she would cut off his dick if he ever harmed any one of her grandchildren.

I think she’s ready to [kill him], yeah. I think he has gone one step too far, and she’s done. I think she’s ready to destroy him.

Will Leland Be Able To Talk His Way Out Of His Latest Mess?

Leland Has Gotten Out Of Tough Situations Before, And He Might Again

Throughout Evil’s previous seasons, Leland has repeatedly proven himself more than capable of extracting himself from any number of precarious positions. Ruthlessly cunning and equipped with a nearly inexhaustible supply of devilish schemes, Leland has rarely been faced with a situation that he has not been able to twist to his advantage. While the dramatic ending for Evil season 4, episode 6 may suggest that his overconfidence in his schemes has fatally backfired, Sheryl’s fury may still be short-lived.

Given Leland’s history of deftly overcoming insurmountable obstacles, it seems unlikely that Sheryl’s anger will pose any genuine threat to his safety. With most viewers expecting the looming Evil series finale to feature a final showdown between Kristen and Leland, logic would dictate his character would need to survive long enough to reach the show’s forthcoming conclusion. Instead, the question will be whether he can soothe Sheryl’s rage with words alone, or whether she may end up forcing a confrontation she will not be able to walk away from.

With Evil looking to wrap its various plot threads in a small handful of remaining episodes, it is entirely possible that Sheryl’s death at Leland’s hands could be the catalyst that leads to his final confrontation with Kristen. Exactly what Sheryl’s discovery will lead to remains to be seen, but history has repeatedly proven that there are few things Leland is unable to walk away from unscathed.
