Sweet Home season 3’s trailer delivered a moment I’ve been waiting for since the end of the first season, after which the show was never the same. One of Netflix’s best K-dramas is coming to an end as Sweet Home will conclude with season 3. While season 2 was not as well received as season 1, I’m excited to see how the series will end. Much has yet to be revealed about Hyun-su’s final battle, but the first Sweet Home season 3 trailer offers some clues regarding where the show is heading.

Song Kang leads the cast of Sweet Home, which includes a lot of fan-favorite actors and up-and-coming stars. However, some of the season 1 characters were not in season 2 or barely appeared in the series’ second chapter, including Lee Do-hyun’s Eun-hyeok. Fortunately, not only is Eun-hyeok returning, but Sweet Home has already shown a glimpse of a long-awaited reunion four years in the making.

Sweet Home Season 3’s Trailer Includes The Long-Awaited Hyun-su & Eun-hyeok Reunion

Song Kang and Lee Do-hyun are finally in the same scene again

Although it’s a very brief moment, Song Kang’s Hyun-su and Lee Do-hyun’s Eun-hyeok share a scene in the Sweet Home season 3 trailer. Their reunion had already been confirmed by a promotional image featuring Hyun-su, Eun-yu, and Eun-hyeok, but Sweet Home season 3’ marketing campaign had yet to show any scenes or clips featuring both Song Kang and Lee Do-hyun. After all they went through in season 1, I’m incredibly excited to see Hyun-su and Eun-hyeok interacting again. Eun-hyeok was thought to be dead at the end of season 1 and only returned in season 2’s final scene.

It’s unclear how Eun-hyeok will fit into Sweet Home’s story now that he has returned as a neohuman. Eun-hyeok had gone through the cocoon stage of the monsterization process and might now be as powerful as Hyun-su, if not more. The scene in which Hyun-sun and Eun-hyeok appear together in the trailer sees the former saying he will stop Sang-won “no matter what,” suggesting the two characters are on the same side. Eun-hyeok and Hyun-su are wearing similar suits, but not much can be inferred about where they are or what they are doing.

Sweet Home’s Song Kang & Lee Do-hyun Haven’t Been In A Scene Together Since 2020

Eun-hyeok only returned at the end of season 2

Almost four years will have passed since Hyun-su and Eun-hyeok reunite by the time Sweet Home season 3 premiers. The first season of Sweet Home was based on a webtoon of the same name and ended with Eun-hyeok deciding to stay behind as the military attacked the Green Home building. Just before the building collapsed, Eun-hyeok was shown to be bleeding from the nose. Noise bleeding is a common early symptom of monsterization, which is why I hoped that Eun-hyeok could still be alive somehow, even if as a neohuman.

All the theories regarding Eun-hyeok’s fate were confirmed true in Sweet Home season 2’s ending, during which the character emerged from the wreckages of the Green Home and smiled as he walked toward the camera. Sweet Home season 2 introduced many new characters and even sidelined Hyun-su, to the point it almost felt like a completely different show. This is one of the reasons why I’m so excited about Eun-hyeok’s return in season 3. Lee Do-hyun’s character was one of season 1’s best and can help the series feel more familiar after such a divisive second season.

What Will Hyun-su & Eun-hyeok’s Relationship In Sweet Home Season 3 Be Like?

Eun-hyeok is now a neohuman like Hyun-su

I’m very curious to see how different Hyun-su and Eun-hyeok’s dynamic in season 3 will be compared to season 1. In the first season of Sweet Home, Eun-hyeok placed himself as a natural leader and helped protect those in the building the best he could. Eun-hyeok was incredibly smart and came up with clever ways of fixing the problems they ran into, including what to do with Hyun-su. Whereas Eun-hyeok was all about order and keeping everyone safe, Hyun-su was the troublemaker whose action could not be predicted. Still, they made for a great duo.

Sweet Home Season 3 Will Be Its Last, And I Couldn’t Be Happier About It

Netflix has confirmed that Sweet Home will conclude with season 3, and that is actually great news for the horror K-drama starring Song Kang.

The fact that Eun-hyeok is now a neohuman just like Hyun-su means their relationship can be even more interesting in season 3. Eun-hyeok’s goals and allegiances remain to be revealed, but I hope that he will be one of the good guys. Everyone thinks Eun-hyeok is dead, including his sister. Although Eun-yu initially believed that Eun-hyeok was her “guardian angel” protecting her from the shadows, she later found out that it was actually Hyun-su who was watching over her. Sweet Home’s final season has a lot to tackle, but I predict that Eun-hyeok will have a major role in it.
