Spider-Man has yet to officially crossover into Venom’s neck of the live-action woods, with the idea that the pair will eventually meet up in either the MCU or Sony’s Spider-Man Universe being a genuine possibility for these iconic Marvel characters in the near future. But until that time, the cosplay community has picked up the slack that Hollywood hasn’t, with a new cosplay image bringing Spider-Man into Sony’s Venomverse to hysterical results!

Shared on Instagram by @wens.1998, this talented creator acts as the photographer, editor, and cosplayer for the majority of what they produce, with each new post raising the bar set by the previous one, turning whatever @wens.1998’s latest project is into must-see content.

Recently uploading images featuring Spider-Man and Wolverine going at it, a shape-shifting picotech cosplay showing off a few different Spider-Man costumes, a new live-action iteration of the Marvel Knights featuring Spidey, and much more, @wens.1998 doesn’t shy away from a challenge, with this Spider-Man x Venom image proving that point entirely.

Spider-Man being overtaken by Venom in MCU fan poster

Technically already part of the MCU thanks to the brief post-credit scenes in both Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom was quickly whisked away from that film universe before he ever had the chance to meet Spidey in person. And although Venom does leave behind a piece of his symbiote before heading back to his own reality, hinting at a future storyline where Peter Parker may don his infamous black suit, there have been no official announcements about bringing these two together onscreen, with @wens.1998 finally making that meet-up happen in the most amusing way.

Showing Spider-Man sitting on the couch holding a video game controller with his post-work clothes half off and his vigilante mask already on, @wens.1998 comments on how this Spider-Man has bonded with Venom and become “true friends” who “share great moments together,” a fact that’s readily proven as sitting next to Peter is the Venom symbiote itself, also with a controller in-hand. Hyper-focused on whatever game they play, @wens.1998’s casual Spidey cosplay mixed with his professional-level photo editing gives this image some high-end production value, expertly crafting something as impressive as it is fun to see.

While it’s inevitable that Spider-Man and Venom will come together in some capacity in the live-action space, fans will have to turn to @wens.1998 and their incredible cosplay images to see them face-to-face and interacting in the same reality. Spider-Man and Venom can be a pretty chill pair when they aren’t at each other’s throats, so hopefully this less antagonistic version of their relationship makes its way onto the big screen in some way, but only after they’ve thrown down in the streets of New York City, that is.

Summary

When a sentient alien symbiote merges with Eddie Brock, the result is the supervillain Venom, a classic and fan-favorite addition to Spider-Man’s rogues gallery. Though Brock is not the only human that the Venom symbiote has bonded with, he is the most well-known and popular, in part due to his appearances in the Spider-Man as well as standalone films. Since his introduction, Venom has gone from villain to antihero, facing down the serial killer Cletus Kasady and his symbiote, Carnage.
