My Hero Academia season 7, episode 8 pitted Shoto against his long-lost brother Dabi, AKA Toya Todoroki. Much of Dabi’s backstory was revealed as the two fought, showing what happened to him between the time he was believed to have died and when he emerged on the scene as Dabi.

Episode 8 provided a fascinating look at how All for One operated during All Might’s reign, using orphanages as a cover to find children to experiment upon, and potentially turn into vessels for his own consciousness in the same way that he planned to use Shigaraki. All for One’s contingency planning is truly incredible, but it turns out his facilities weren’t enough to keep Toya inside when he didn’t want to be. Dabi ran off and started a new life with a new name, dedicated to nothing but achieving vengeance against his father.

What Happened in My Hero Academia, Season 7, Episode #8?

Dabi Spills His Life Story

Dabi igniting himself with blue flames, coming ever closer to death.

My Hero Academia season 7, Episode 8 focused heavily on the fight between Dabi and Shoto, taking place at the Kamino ward battlefield, where All Might once faced down All for One. Dabi’s flames became so hot that they began melting the statue, and even Endeavor’s heat-resistant sidekicks could barely keep up with the ever-rising temperature. Dabi proved he’d mastered his father’s signature attack, the Flashfire Fist and its variations, putting Shoto and his team on the defensive. He even explained how he managed to survive on the night he was believed to have died, and it turns out Dabi was “lucky” enough to have been found by All for One.

Shoto, for his part, had a brand-new move, Fashfire Fist: Phosphor, which allowed him to merge the ice and fire powers flowing through his body into one, which could then be formed into attacks that could help extinguish Dabi’s flames. Shoto managed to pull off a super move, the Great Glacial Aegir, sending cold energy pouring out such that massive areas were frozen, and Dabi was incapacitated, at least for the moment.

My Hero Academia Season 7, Episode 9 is All About the “Extras”

Endeavor and Hawks Go Head-to-Head with All for One

Hawks, a winged hero, and Endeavor, enveloped in flame, charge forward in front of action lines.

Episode 9 of My Hero Academia season 7 is entitled “Extras,” and will focus primarily on the fight between All for One and the current top 2 heroes, Hawks and Endeavor. Of course, Hawks and Endeavor aren’t the only ones at this battlefield; several UA students, such as Tokoyami and Jiro, have been assigned there as well, and they’re likely the “extras” that the title refers to. These UA students may just have to teach All for One not to underestimate their power, and prove that they’re far more than mere extras in this particular battle.

All for One is a dangerous opponent due to his skill at psychologically manipulating his opponents, and the situation with Dabi certainly leaves Endeavor open to being toyed with by All for One. Endeavor will have to be careful to ensure that All for One isn’t able to trick him into charging blindly into a trap, and it may be up to Hawks to remain the objective voice of reason here. Endeavor needs to remember that he’s here facing All for One and not Dabi for a reason, and trust in Shoto to handle the threat that Dabi poses.

While there are many exciting battles going on at the moment, All for One is definitely one of the most important. The threat posed by All for One joining forces with Shigaraki is simply too great, so it’s critical that Endeavor and Hawks take down the self-proclaimed “Demon Lord” here and now. The next episode of My Hero Academia should be another exciting one, as the final war heats up and really gets going.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
