I think I have worked out how Superman & Lois season 4 will start, and it would be devastating for fans of the DC series. David Corenswet has been cast as the Superman of the new DC Universe. As such, the studio is now focusing its live-action efforts on that iteration of the character, which has led to Superman & Lois season 4 being the final entry for Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel. Due to budget restraints, Superman & Lois season 4’s cast has seen some changes, though the series should remain as strong as ever.

I’m a major fan of Superman & Lois. Having watched all seasons of Teen Wolf, I was intrigued when Hoechlin, one of that series’ stars, was cast as Clark Kent in the Arrowverse. While his first costume could have done with some upgrades, Hoechlin was pitch-perfect as Superman and Clark Kent from the get-go. Then came Superman & Lois, which was removed from the Arrowverse and allowed Hoechlin’s Superman to shine, becoming many fans’ favorite Clark. While I’m excited about James Gunn’s Superman, I’m happy that we get one final go with Hoechlin — and I think there will be blood.

I Think The Superman & Lois Season 4 Premiere Starts With Superman’s Death

Doomsday Should Do What The Villain Is Famous For

Superman & Lois season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger. Hoechlin’s Superman prepared to trade blows with Doomsday just as the episode faded to black. In the comics and other media, Doomsday is one of Superman’s most iconic villains. The character is known for being the main player in “The Death of Superman” story, and I believe that Superman & Lois season 4 will start with Hoechlin’s Superman emotionally dying as he fights Doomsday, setting the tone for the show’s final season — and a recent tease led me to that conclusion.

Lois Lane actress Elisabeth Tulloch has teased a bold decision for the Superman & Lois season 4 premiere. According to the actress,What they did was based on one of the comics. It was a very bold decision on their part to do this and to pull it off for the first episode of season 4.” Since Superman was last seen fighting Doomsday and Tulloch claims Superman & Lois season 4’s premiere will be emotional and pull off an event based on the comics, I can’t believe she means anything other than an adaptation of “The Death of Superman.”

The CW’s Superman & Lois repeated a storyline from the DC Universe’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it managed to do a much better job.

What Superman Dying In The Premiere Means For Season 4

The Comics Show The Possible Way Ahead

Following Superman’s death in the comics, a period of mourning ensued. As Superman & Lois does not feature an expansive cast of DC heroes, the show would have to change who is involved in the affair. The comic book event brought together several DC heroes — and villains — to mourn Superman and pay their respects to the fallen hero. Even the President of the United States was present at the proceedings. The latter could be part of Superman & Lois‘ possible “The Death of Superman” arc, with Smallville and Metropolis shown mourning the Man of Steel.

One of the most tragic moments in the story is Jonathan Kent getting a heart attack due to his guilt over Clark’s death, but as Superman’s parents are dead in Superman & Lois, that will not happen. Lois Lane and her sons Jordan and Jonathan could experience severe grief over Clark’s passing instead, with the first couple of episodes in the show’s final season showing the family struggling to move on. The comics involved Steel and other characters appearing as Superman substitutes. In the series, instead of pretending to be Superman, Steel could become the main hero for a bit.

Superman & Lois Season 4 Risks Repeating A Classic DC Universe Mistake

The setup for Superman & Lois season 4 indicates The CW series may be about to repeat a major mistake the DCEU made with Superman’s story.

How Superman Dying In Superman & Lois Season 4 Sets Up An Epic Final Season

Clark Kent Would Obviously Come Back

If Superman & Lois season 4 is truly adapting “The Death of Superman,” then there is no way Hoechlin’s Man of Steel will stay dead. As Lois Lane actress Elizabeth Tulloch stated, the series’ bold decision comes in its premiere. With Superman never staying dead for the whole season, a return to life for the Man of Steel could happen after a couple of episodes. That would serve as enough of a gap for a time skip to present a new status quo where Lex Luthor came out on top, perhaps.

Clark could then be resurrected and meet with his mourning family, having to deal with the universe’ changes and prepare to take down Lex Luthor once and for all. Superman’s death in the first episode of Superman & Lois‘ final season would be a shocking and emotional event, leaving plenty of room for catharsis when he comes back to save the world. The move would raise the stakes for season 4, and it could also see Hoechlin don the black Superman suit from the comics to end Superman & Lois in style.
