According to the announcement by Marvel, Blade: Red Band will team author Bryan Edward Hill and artist C.F. Villa for a five-issue limited solo series. Readers can expect a compelling character study dealing with the fallout from the gruesome events of Blood Hunt.

This comic series is expected to be “the skin-searing dawn of a bloody new Blade saga” as Blood Hunt winds down and a new era of Marvel begins, with the Daywalker taking on an increasingly pivotal role.

“Blade: Red Band” Is The Gory Follow-Up To Marvel’s Brutal “Blood Hunt”

Blade: Red Band #1 – Written By Bryan Edward Hill; Art By C.F. Villa

Blade stabs Doctor Strange, revealing himself to be the villain of Marvel's Blood Hunt crossover.

What’s interesting about this new series is how it will examine Blade following the events of Blood Hunt. He was at the center of the first issue’s biggest twist, where it turned out that he was the secret leader behind the ultra-violent vampire war, stabbing Doctor Strange in the process. This turn to villainy came as a major shock for not just his former allies, but also his fans as well. The character has a lot of history with readers as not just a suave vampire hunter, but also a compelling character searching for vengeance following the death of his mother.

Now, he’s become a traitor to the Avengers as he turns to the side of villainy. However, with his daughter Bloodline joining the Avengers, there’s always room for forgiveness from the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The fact that this Blade: Red Band solo series seems to be focusing on themes of humanity suggests that it will be a story of redemption. Blade will undoubtedly need to face his own demons born from his actions in Blood Hunt, setting up a choice. Either he continues down the path to villainy, or he can redeem himself.

Blade’s Red Band Series Will Be His Most Violent Story Yet

The Daywalker Continues To Shine At Marvel

Of course, the path to redemption isn’t an easy one, and Marvel is making good on this premise by preparing fans for Blade’s bloodiest story yet. Blade: Red Band will not only be fitted with a mature-rated red-band, but every issue will be poly-bagged “to keep those weak at heart from experiencing its intensity.” This could end up being Blade’s most gruesome tale to date, and given the themes teased in Marvel’s announcement, it will also undeniably be a must-read for fans of the antihero.

The first issue of Blade is expected to release October 9, 2024, just in time for the spookiest month of the year to get into full swing. More details regarding the story are expected to be revealed over the coming weeks, as the first issue’s release grows closer. Blade has become a major name for Marvel with its recent Blood Hunt event, and with this new series, he will finally be getting the bloody showcase that fans have been waiting for.
