Tom King, Daniel Sampere, and Tomeu Morey’s Wonder Woman #10 continues with the Sovereign attempting to break Diana through force and torture. In this issue, he strands her on an isolated island with her greatest foe, Cheetah.

However, the story takes an unexpected turn when these two iconic females pause their fighting and share a poignant heart-to-heart. They admit that despite spending much of their lives hating each other, they have also loved each other. With the air cleared between them, Wonder Woman and Cheetah set their rivalry aside and become unlikely allies.

Cheetah Joins Wonder Woman’s All-Amazon Justice League Alongside Donna Troy, Yara Flor, and Cassie Sandsmark

It’s important to note that Wonder Woman deliberately allowed herself to be captured by the Sovereign, enduring his torture because she knew he had taken Barbara Minerva. Thus, her capture was part of a plan to free the feline-inclined villain. However, Diana couldn’t have been certain how her rescue attempt would be received or that it would result in gaining another ally. Yet, emerging from the forest growth of the island and reuniting with the three Wonder Girls with Cheetah in tow, it becomes clear that an ally is exactly what Wonder Woman has acquired.

Cheetah is one of Wonder Woman’s most formidable adversaries. Therefore, having her on their side in the battle against the Sovereign will undoubtedly be a major boon. Like the Amazons she’ll be fighting alongside, Barbara also possesses superhuman strength, speed, agility, durability, healing, endurance, and enhanced senses. Notably, her Cheetah physiology grants her deadly claws. Justice League #29 by James Tynion IV, Scott Snyder, and Bruno Redondo also established that Barbara possesses ‘void wind,’ which grants her the power to harm the magically divine. Therefore, Cheetah is a valuable addition to Wonder Woman’s team.

Cheetah and Wonder Woman’s Dynamic Is About to Change Forever (And May Even Lead to Romance)

Not only will Cheetah joining Wonder Woman’s All-Amazon Justice League enhance the group’s combat prowess, but it will also introduce intriguing dynamics that forever alter how fans perceive Diana and Barbara’s relationship. Additionally, it will be fascinating to observe Cheetah’s interactions with the various Wonder Girls. Transitioning from villain to ally, there will undoubtedly be tensions and misunderstandings, but Barbara’s intentions seem genuine, making this a sincere and well-intentioned team-up. In fact, romance may be on the horizon for Wonder Woman and Cheetah, given the issue’s abundant romantic subtext between the two women.
