Warning: Some SPOILERS lie ahead for Shoresy season 3!

The Sudbury Bulldogs aren’t as ready as they should be for the NOSHO Championship going into Shoresy season 3. Season 2 of the Letterkenny spinoff saw the titular hockey player stay true to his word to team general manager Nat that they would go on an undefeated run through the regular season. This wasn’t without challenges, however, as Shoresy had to keep his teammates on track as they found themselves distracted by puck bunnies and being dragged into various promotional campaigns in the hopes of getting enough funds to host the championship.

Following their meteoric rise through the league in season 2, Shoresy season 3 sees the team thrown a curveball as they lose the final game of the regular season, disappointing the players, while Nat and her partners, Ziig and Miig, are more content with successfully raising the funds to host the championship and their long win streak. With the best hockey teams in the country now coming to Sudbury for playoffs and the Bulldogs having lost their rhythm, Shoresy, Nat and team coach Sanguinet will have to rally the troops in order to bring home the championship trophy.

New On Hulu: All 168 Movies & TV Shows Arriving In June

Hulu continues to be a big player among streamers with the arrival of new original programming along with classic movies and TV shows in June.

Creator Jared Keeso returns to lead the ensemble Shoresy cast in the titular role alongside Tasya Teles, Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat, Blair Lamora, Keilani Elizabeth Rose, Jonathan-Ismaël Diaby, Terry Ryan, Ryan McDonell, Max Bouffard, Andrew Antsanen, Jacob Smith, Camille Sullivan, Jon Mirasty, Brandon Nolan and Jordan Nolan. More than just delivering profane chirps and hard-hitting fight sequences, season 3 looks to offer deeper character development for its wide roster of actors.

In honor of the show’s premiere, Screen Rant interviewed stars Blair Lamora and Ryan McDonell to discuss Shoresy season 3, what to expect from Michaels and Ziig’s growth (or lack thereof) in the new episodes, a potential new love interest for the latter character, and which Letterkenny characters they’d like to see crossover for the spinoff.

Shoresy Season 3 Will Show How The Players “Grow As A Team

Shoresy and some hockey players talking in their apartment in Shoresy season 3

While Shoresy season 3 may start off on a somewhat lower note for the Bulldogs, Lamora and McDonell both tease that the rest of the season will see the group “grow as a team“, with the latter in particular praising the writing as giving the characters an opportunity to be “a little more fleshed out“:

Blair Lamora: Yeah, it was really exciting. I feel like it was fun to see a lot of the characters, how they move on from what they dealt with in season 2, how that made them grow as a team. It was really cool to see that between all the characters, and how they shift this season.

Ryan McDonell: Yeah, I love how it kind of picks up exactly where it left off. You’re left with literally just immediately getting right into it, and setting up what’s happening in season 3. So, yeah, like Blair said, the characters are getting a little more fleshed out, we’re starting to see the little intricacies between each other, and with this tournament going on right now, it brings out the best and worst in everyone.

As the ensemble roster of characters continues to steadily build for the show, the “little intricacies” McDonell refers to extend to both Michaels and Ziig getting to interact further with some they haven’t before. For both Lamora and McDonell, though, there’s one newer character they hope to get to play against far more in the future of the show:

Blair Lamora: Honestly, every time that Jory is in the room, he really does it for me. I find there’s something that I think Ziig likes about Jory, because he’s also one of the few characters that really gets under Shoresy’s skin. So, I think it’d be kind of funny to see them all duking it out in some way.

Ryan McDonell: You stole my answer, kinda. When we had the scripts, I had not met who Jory was yet, and I didn’t really meet him, just saw him doing work the first time, and I was just like, “Where did they find this kid?” [Laughs] He’s so quick, he’s like lightning fast. It’s amazing to watch those scenes of him. I love Andrew, [who plays] Goody, he’s just grown on me so much on the show. It’s just quick one-liners all over the place, just sporadically everywhere. I’ve got a soft spot for ol’ Andrew. It’s hard to [balance this big of a cast], right? We’ve gone from creating the team to now we are the team, and almost all scenes are kind of together. So, everyone’s got a little something to say in the room. It’s cool to have that group dynamic rather than just always one person.

Ziig May Get A New Love Interest In Season 3 (But Michaels Needs “A Little More Self-Worth“)

Ziig and Miig in standing

While the show may be primarily focused on the hockey adventures of the Bulldogs, Shoresy has seen some of its characters build relationships outside of the rink, including the titular character’s chasing of reporter Laura Mohr and Miig dating team coach Sanguinet. One of the few to not get a romantic counterpart thus far is Lamora’s Ziig, though the star teases that may finally come in season 3:

Blair Lamora: I think people are going to be surprised. You’re used to seeing her in a very tough shell, very strong exterior, especially when dealing with the team. She’s kind of like the boys, where she’s all over the place, and I think everybody’s gonna be a little surprised this season. She might open up a bit more, she might show a little bit of interest in someone. You never know. But yeah, I think it will be fun for people to see.

Michaels, on the other hand, seemed to have finally gotten a step up in Shoresy season 2 after expressing a desire to be able to share his joy of winning with someone beyond his teammates. McDonell teases, though, that this may not be the happy ending the goalie hopes for:

Ryan McDonell: I don’t think his emotions have changed from the end of season 2 going into this. It’s very right in the timeline, so he’s still very much an emotional onion with many layers. It’s so fun to play. I don’t want to compare, but for me, it’s more fun trying to get the girl and never getting her. I don’t know if I ever will. Who knows? But she just walks all over me, man, and I allow it to happen, so it’s on me. Michaels has gotta have a little more self-worth.

Lamora & McDonell Have The Same Idea For A Letterkenny Crossover (& McDonell Even Has His Own Theories)

Celebrating hockey in Letterkenny spinoff Shoresy

Aside from Kim Cloutier’s Anik Archambault and Keeso’s titular character, Shoresy has yet to feature any major Letterkenny character crossovers, with Jonathan Torrens and director Jacob Tierney playing new characters rather than Noah Dyck and Glen. In looking to the future of the spinoff, both Lamora and McDonell have the same idea of who they’d like to see crossover for the show, while McDonell even teases his own theories for further crossovers:

Blair Lamora: I think it would kind of be funny to see Jonesy and Riley come back. I think just the banter between them and Shoresy right off the bat would be hilarious, and to see how the team is integrated, and all the shots and chirps that everybody would put on each other, I think would be interesting. They’d be my pick, personally.

Ryan McDonell: Yeah, there were so many theories that I was playing around with that I won’t even put out there, but there were a lot of things that I was like, “I wonder if this might happen.” The worlds are pretty separate right now, but who knows, right? There’s some family stuff that I wonder about. I’ll just leave it at that. Like, there’s some Shoresy family stuff that I’ve always wondered. I literally, swear to God, don’t know a thing, but I always was trying to connect the two, and I think other fans have too, but Jonesy and Riley — I mean, Andrew and Dylan are two good friends of mine, and I love those boys. That’s kind of the obvious one, because hockey, but yeah, I don’t know. It’s a tough call. Maybe some family.
