If Lady Sif returns in future Thor adventures, Marvel Studios will have the perfect opportunity to pay off a seven-year-old tease by finally bringing a new hero into the MCU. Jaimie Alexander first appeared as Lady Sif, one of Asgard’s most formidable warriors, in 2011’s Thor, fighting alongside Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder as a companion to the Warriors Three. Despite her absence in Thor: Ragnarok, Lady Sif reappeared in Thor: Love and Thunder, informing Thor of Gorr the God Butcher’s quest to eradicate the MCU’s Gods, but her story shouldn’t end there.

Lady Sif has always been depicted as one of Thor’s most trusted allies, which meant it was satisfying to see her find safe harbor in New Asgard at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder. Last seen training Axl Heimdallson, the door is open for Jaimie Alexander to reprise her powerful role in the MCU’s future, and it’s possible this could lead to the debut of some of Thor’s other supporting characters from Marvel Comics. One, in particular, has been teased for several years in the MCU.

Jaimie Alexander Wants To Return As Lady Sif In The MCU

Lady Sif Was Last Seen In 2022’s Thor: Love & Thunder

During this year’s Superhero Comic Con, Jaimie Alexander expressed her interest in returning to the MCU as Lady Sif. In conversation with Agents of Fandom, Alexander revealed that Lady Sif is “probably one of the most favorite characters [she’s] ever played,” and noted her desire to continue to play her for as long as possible. This all but confirms that Lady Sif will be returning to the MCU at some point, and while the most likely places for this to happen may be in the as-yet-unconfirmed Thor 5, Alexander may have another idea.

Continuing her conversation with Agents of Fandom, Jaimie Alexander revealed that she has been exploring potential avenues to return to the MCU with her own creative team. One of these exciting options could include an MCU-set Disney+ series focused on Lady Sif and Beta Ray Bill. After Thor: Love and Thunder revealed more about the various deities and pantheons of the MCU, now may be the perfect time to debut this much-anticipated cosmic superhero. This could establish a new status quo for the MCU, and make Lady Sif a much more important hero.

Lady Sif’s Return Can Establish Her Relationship With Beta Ray Bill (Who Already Exists In The MCU)

Beta Ray Bill’s Likeness Was Glimpsed In Thor: Ragnarok, Confirming His Existence In The MCU

Beta Ray Bill on the Grandmaster's tower in Thor Ragnarok

Beta Ray Bill is one of Marvel Comics’ strangest superheroes, but one of the few who is worthy of lifting Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. Initially depicted as an adversary to the God of Thunder, with he and Thor regularly battling over possession of the hammer, Beta Ray Bill eventually acquires a weapon of his own, and becomes a staunch ally to Thor and Marvel’s other heroes, including Lady Sif. Sif and Bill form a fast bond in Marvel Comics, which soon develops into a romantic attachment, so Marvel Studios could explore this dynamic in the MCU.

Beta Ray Bill making his live-action debut alongside Lady Sif would pay off a seven-year-old tease, as Beta Ray Bill’s existence in the MCU has already been confirmed. A statue of Bill’s horse-like head appeared on the side of the Grandmaster’s tower on Sakaar during Thor: Ragnarok, suggesting he had resided on the planet at some point, and been a champion of Jeff Goldblum’s sociopathic Elder of the Universe. Beta Ray Bill hasn’t been seen or mentioned since Ragnarok, making the prospect of him appearing in Thor 5 or a Disney+ Lady Sif-focused series very exciting.

Beta Ray Bill Would Be The Perfect Replacement For Thor If Chris Hemsworth Leaves The MCU

Thor 5 May Be Chris Hemsworth’s Final MCU Movie

Although there has been no official confirmation from Marvel Studios, speculation suggests that Thor 5 may be the final solo movie for Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Thor is currently the only MCU hero to receive four solo feature films, but not all of them have achieved a huge amount of success (Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Love and Thunder were divisive installments). This will likely prompt Marvel Studios to wrap up storylines featuring the God of Thunder, after his decade-and-a-half run in the MCU, and Beta Ray Bill may be his perfect replacement.

Able to wield Mjolnir, and the original owner of Thor’s current weapon, Stormbreaker, Beta Ray Bill is the clear choice to take over as the MCU’s god-like hero. The alien Bill is a much more cosmically-focused hero than Thor, so may not be featured among the MCU’s Avengers team, but would help to continue Marvel Studios’ space-faring storylines. With connections to the Guardians of the Galaxy, Adam Warlock, Thanos, the Skrulls, and Galactus in Marvel Comics, Beta Ray Bill could become the new face of the MCU’s cosmic adventures for years to come.

Statues of Balder, Odin, and Thor in Loki season 2

While Jaimie Alexander seemed to suggest that Beta Ray Bill is the clear choice to star alongside Lady Sif in a potential upcoming MCU project, other Asgardian heroes could join them. Perhaps most notably, Sif’s friendship with Balder the Brave, who developed an unrequited attraction for the powerful female warrior, is a prominent fixture in Marvel Comics. Similarly to Beta Ray Bill, Balder the Brave has also been teased in the MCU, as a statue bearing his name appeared at 1893’s Chicago World’s Fair in Loki season 2.

Balder the Brave is another son of Odin in Marvel Comics, and while he hasn’t yet made his live-action debut in the MCU, his appearance in Loki confirmed that he is knocking around somewhere. Concept art from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness revealed James Bond franchise star Daniel Craig was in talks to appear as a variant of Balder the Brave on Earth-838, but this didn’t come to fruition. As another significant Asgardian hero, it would be brilliant to see Balder finally debut alongside Lady Sif in an upcoming Thor story.
