The Blade movie gets an optimistic update from one of the confirmed actors for the Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot. Despite being one of the biggest and most exciting surprises revealed by Marvel Studios nearly half a decade ago, Mahershala Ali’s Blade film has gone through various obstacles behind-the-scenes. As the project lost its second director recently, Marvel Studios is currently having the Blade script redeveloped, with the search for a new filmmaker set to happen once the screenplay is completed.

The cast of Blade has also undergone some changes during this production process, with horror star Mia Goth remaining part of the roster for the project. Goth recently chatted with Deadline, where she was asked about the status of the upcoming Marvel Studios installment. Without going into specifics, Goth stressed that despite the multiple creative struggles for Blade, Marvel Studios “really care” about getting Ali’s solo film right, sharing the following:

They really care. They do. They want to make a great movie, that’s the sense that I get from them, and that feels good.

10 Reasons’ The MCU’s Blade Reboot Is So Hard To Get Right

The MCU’s upcoming Blade movie is looking for yet another new writer, begging the question as to why development on Blade has been so difficult.

Blade’s Reported Mia Goth Role Makes Her Comments Even More Important

While Marvel Studios have yet to confirm recent Blade movie reports, one of the major details within them is that Goth was allegedly playing the main villain in at least one of the earlier drafts. Despite not being confirmed or debunked by Marvel Studios, if Goth is playing a major player in the movie, it adds more weight to her statement about the setbacks. Even if Goth can’t get too detailed about it, she and her team have likely gotten more insight into the Blade situation if she has been a key part of the cast, which would add more merit to her positive perspective.

Whether or not Goth plays Lilith in Blade remains to be seen, but it will certainly be interesting to see who she is actually going to portray in the movie once the script is finalized, as well as what the Blade cast looks like in the end. But for now, the world will have to wait and see what Marvel Studios is planning to do with Blade as they continue to redevelop the reboot.
