After being part of Star Wars for a decade, Daisy Ridley has finally met Rey Skywalker. Ridley was initially cast as Rey in 2014 and went on to appear in the Star Wars sequel trilogy as the continuation of the Skywalker lineage. Despite not being in a production since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, Daisy Ridley is set to return in an upcoming Star Wars movie. The film will center on the story of Rey’s new Jedi Order, 15 years after the final sequel movie. With this film, Ridley has been versed once more in the Star Wars galaxy.

By being brought back into the fold of Star Wars, Ridley has come face-to-face with her own character, Rey, as seen on Instagram (via Entertainment Weekly). Upon visiting the Disneyland Park Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Ridley took to social media to rejoice at meeting the version of Rey who wanders the park and interacts with visitors. Ridley remarked the meeting was surreal before sharing her excitement at being a vital part of one of the park’s attractions, Rise of the Resistance.

As is the case with countless visitors every day, it seems Ridley’s visit to Disneyland truly captured the magic of Star Wars. One of the biggest draws of Galaxy’s Edge is the real-life cast that stays in character when approached by theme park guests. The tenth mainline installment in the Star Wars franchise is the first movie to follow the sequel trilogy, where Mark Hamill’s Luke, Carrie Fisher’s Leia, and Harrison Ford’s Han Solo gave their final farewell. After the release of The Rise of Skywalker, development on a direct sequel had become dormant as Disney shifted focus on other parts of the galaxy, namely, Disney+ shows such as The Mandalorian, Andor, and Ahsoka. However, a movie starring Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker was officially announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023.
