In Marvel Comics, the X-Men’s most consistent foe and occasional friend, Magneto, is an Omega-level mutant with the incredible ability to manipulate any piece of metal around him, no matter how large or small, a power made even better thanks to an iconic character design that hardcore and casual fans alike immediately recognize. Now, in a new cosplay image featuring the villain, Magneto gets a comic-accurate red and purple costume design that the MCU needs to take note of!

Recently shared on social media via Instagram by Jimmy W. (@jcw.cosplay), this cosplay talent has a whole slew of homemade designs under his belt and has brought to life characters from across the comic book industry and beyond, with Marvel by far being one of his favorite fictional universes to create in.

Previously dressing as another X-Men-related character in Gambit, Jimmy has also embodied Spider-Man, Shang-Chi, Namor, and Khonshu, and has even stepped into the shoes of DC’s Batman, TMNT’s Shredder, Street Fighter’s Vega, and more, always finding unique ways to impress with each new cosplay project.

Magneto’s Powers Are Front and Center In New MCU-Level Cosplay Design

A character who’s worn a few different costumes over the years, the overall look of Magneto’s design doesn’t usually change that much, with his sleek bodysuit, protective helmet, and flowing cape getting a new color scheme more often than anything else. Usually seen wearing his red and purple suit that’s been used in countless iterations of the character across all media, including a brief glimpse in X-Men: First Class, Magneto’s full comic-accurate outfit hasn’t truly had its time to shine in the live-action space, with Jimmy’s take on the character showing why it needs to be the MCU’s default look.

Photographed by Stan Fleming Jr. (@the_flemingphotos), Jimmy immediately looks the part of Magneto, with his evil snarl, battle-ready pose, long purple cape and chest armor, red bodysuit, and the rest of his accurately adapted comic costume selling the idea of an MCU Magneto perfectly. Throw in a dark background and heavy shadows that do wonders to make Jimmy’s cosplay pop in all the right places, and Stan editing in Jimmy using Magneto’s magnetism-based powers is the cherry on top of a cosplay design that hasn’t missed a step in making the transition from page to real life.

Fans still have to wait a little while yet before the X-Men make their proper MCU debut, but when the team and their long list of villains eventually do, it’s clear that The Master of Magnetism needs to be wearing his iconic red and purple costume. Jimmy W. (@jcw.cosplay) and Stan Fleming Jr. (@the_flemingphotos) do a great job of showing what Magneto should look like in his next live-action appearance, proving that the only place where this X-Men villain’s iconic visual design has been given the proper real-world treatment is within the cosplay community.
