Batman: Caped Crusader will feature a talented ensemble cast as it follows The Dark Knight and his impressive rogues gallery. The animated series is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video August 1, 2024. Matt Reeves, director of The Batman, and J.J. Abrams signed on as an executive producers, and Ed Brubaker, the writer behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Westworld (2016) serves as the head writer for the DC animated series.

The series was originally intended to release on HBO Max, but when Warner Bros. Discovery was altering the slate, and canceling several projects in August 2022, the show was canceled before it saw the light of day. However, Amazon Prime has now picked up the series for at least two seasons (via Empire). The show is set to act as a spiritual sequel to 1992’s Batman: The Animated Series. While the cast is completely new, the show promises to feature many of the most notable and familiar characters from the Batman comics.

Hamish Linklater As Batman/Bruce Wayne

Actor: Hamish Linklater was born in New York City, New York, and broke big in The New Adventures of Old Christine in 2006 for his role as Matthew Kimble. Linklater has had a variety of small but notable parts throughout his career. In 2021, he landed his biggest part to date in the limited Netflix series by Mike Flanagan where he played Father Paul. He has also stepped briefly into the world of voice acting, where he has displayed an impressive vocal range that makes him a solid choice for The Caped Crusader.

Character: Linklater will be tackling the lead role as Batman/Bruce Wayne for the upcoming series. Batman is one of the most popular superheros of all time, with dozens of adaptations and iterations of the character being made since his first appearance in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. The dual role offers Linklater an opportunity to showcase his talents as both a charming socialite, and a gruff vigilante dealing out his own brand of justice.

Mckenna Grace

Actor: Mckenna Grace was born in Grapevine, Texas, and broke big in Gifted in 2017 for her role as Mary. Grace is the youngest star confirmed to appear in Batman: Caped Crusader, but that says nothing of her career. Despite her age, Grace has had a string of standout roles, appearing as younger versions of major characters in blockbuster films, and starring as the hero in the latest Ghostbusters movies. Grace is exceptionally talented, and has experience in several voice roles.

Actor: Toby Stephens was born in London, England, and he smashed onto the big screen in Die Another Day in 2002 for his role as Gustav Graves. Stephens has had great success performing in a variety of audio-based James Bond stories, and playing large and imposing villains in live-action films. With his background in voice-led projects, Stephens is sure to stand out in Batman: Caped Crusader.

Actor: Reid Scott was born in Albany, New York, and had his big break with My Boys in 2006 for his role as Brendan Dorff. Scott has enjoyed consistent success in supporting roles throughout his career. He has also starred in animated shows like Turbo Fast, where he honed his talents as a voice actor. More recently, Scott featured prominently in Prime Video’s The Idea of You as Anne Hathaway’s ex-husband Daniel.
