Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Deadpool #3! Deadpool’s seemingly all but forgotten daughter, Ellie, has made her return to Marvel Comics canon, and she’s become a major powerhouse in her own right. Previously, Ellie didn’t seem to have any superhuman abilities despite being the child of Wade Wilson, but now, it’s revealed that Ellie was just a late bloomer, as she boasts a “hyper-receptive” superpower that’s tied directly to her very own healing factor.

In Deadpool #3 by Cody Ziglar and Rogê Antônio, Deadpool is being hunted by a cult led by an all-new villain named Death Grip, who hires Crossbones to distract Deadpool while he and his cult obtain the one thing that can kill the Merc with a Mouth: the Muramasa Blade. The issue ends with Death Grip merging the Muramasa Blade into his own body, turning himself into the ultimate Deadpool-killing weapon. However, at the moment, that is of little consequence to Deadpool, as he has just learned that his daughter, Ellie, has superhuman healing and ‘hyper-receptive’ powers.

Deadpool learns about his daughter’s superpowers when she teleports to his location to help him fight crossbones. She’s injured in the fight, but after it ends, Deadpool sees that Ellie can heal just like he can. Then, when they go back to their safehouse, Taskmaster (who’s aligned himself with Deadpool in this storyline) notes that Ellie learns things “a little too fast”, and that she is “hyper-receptive” and that it’s likely a byproduct of her healing factor.

10 Best Deadpool Quotes in Marvel Comics, Ranked

Deadpool’s one of the most popular characters in Marvel Comics, and that’s mostly due to the absurd things he says. Here’s his 10 best quotes, ranked!

Deadpool’s Daughter, Ellie, Just Became the Deadliest Next-Gen Hero

Taskmaster telling Deadpool's daughter that he's going to train her.

After Taskmaster assesses Ellie’s powers, and after she proves herself in battle against Crossbones, he agrees to train her so that she may reach her full potential. Like Taskmaster, Ellie’s ‘hyper-receptiveness’ gives her the ability to learn anything, including fighting styles, just by watching them. This makes Ellie the perfect student for Taskmaster, and means that Ellie should be able to master every fighting style Taskmaster knows (which is every fighting style known to man) incredibly quickly.

With Ellie’s mastery of advanced combat, plus her hyper-intelligence, plus her healing factor, it’s safe to say that – once her training is complete – she’ll easily be one of the deadliest next-gen heroes in Marvel Comics. The only thing Ellie is missing is her own costume and codename, though it’s a safe bet that this Deadpool comic will remedy that in no time.

Ellie Also Has Another One of Deadpool’s Original ‘Powers’

Deadpool using his teleporter in an early X-Force comic.

While a bit understated compared to the revelation that Ellie has superhuman powers akin to (and perhaps even surpassing) those of Deadpool, Ellie makes her debut in this issue wielding a ‘power’ that Deadpool himself had during his earliest comics: a teleporter. Back when Deadpool was still firmly an X-Force villain (without a shred of antiheroism yet introduced), he had a teleportation device. And now, Ellie has a teleporter of her very own, which is a fantastic detail added to her new origin as a superhuman, especially as it relates to her father, Deadpool.

Ellie’s newfound powers (and tech) cement her as not only Deadpool’s daughter, but also his perfect successor. Plus, with her “hyper-receptive” power and Taskmaster’s training, the stage is set for Ellie to step out from her father’s shadow and become a badass next-gen hero in her right – and Deadpool couldn’t be more proud.
