Warning! SPOILERS about Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 4 ahead.

The KPD car park bombings at the end of Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 3 understandably shook the entire town, but Robert and his SWAT team’s subsequent actions proved former assistant DA Evelyn right yet again. Being an integral part of the group of officers and friends often meeting up with Mike to discuss major problems among the Kingstown gangs, Robert always worked closely with Mike. Leading the SWAT team also meant Robert Sawyer usually found himself in the most dangerous circumstances possible, and his team’s conduct often highlighted how seldom they de-escalated them, instead answering with more violence.

This became evident in the Mayor of Kingstown season 1’s prison riots when Robert’s team was needed to free the correctional officers who were taken hostage within Anchor Bay, leading to many of the prisoners involved ending up dead. The ordeal was at the center of Mayor of Kingstown season 2, becoming even more important when Assistant DA Foley decided to pursue Robert for his extrajudicial killings, finding someone ready to report him to IA only for Robert’s coworker to die in mysterious circumstances. While that temporarily stopped Evelyn’s crusade, Robert’s violence didn’t wane in Mayor of Kingstown season 3.

Robert’s Team Killing The AB Bomber Shows He’s Become More Violent In Mayor Of Kingstown

Bunny & Evelyn Already Complained About His Brutality In Season 2

The search for the two AB-affiliated bombers focused the whole of Kingstown in Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 4. When the police finally closed in on the first bomber, it became clear Robert’s unit would have been used, even when they had just burned down an AB hideout in what was only supposed to be a raid in Mayor of Kingstown season 3’s premiere. Robert’s excessive use of violence reappeared in Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 4, as when his team breached the bomber’s hideout, they immediately killed him even if he wasn’t pointing his gun at them.

Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3’s Surprise Partnership Just Tipped The Balance Among Gangs

Bunny’s Crips have long been the most powerful in Kingstown, but one unlikely partnership in season 3 can tip the scales in another gang’s favor.

Robert’s team was already known for their willingness to shoot first and ask questions later, and that couldn’t be ignored after the prison riots. However, their and especially Robert’s impunity became impossible to deny in Mayor of Kingstown season 3, as Captain Walter repeatedly protected Robert, reinstating him in the aftermath of the Crips’ hit on him despite his physical and psychological evaluations presenting glaring issues. The police backed Robert, no matter how the only thing the interim DA and the gangs could agree on was how his unnecessary violence needed to be stopped, pursuing said goal in opposite ways.

Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3 Has Already Hinted Twice That Robert Has Gone Too Far

Mayor Of Kingstown May Finally Deal With Its Robert Problem Now It Has Highlighted It Often

Hamish Allan-Headley as Robert Sawyer in Mayor of Kingstown season 3 episode 1

Mike’s role as mayor in Mayor of Kingstown made him work closely with the police and rely on them but even he showed evident displeasure with Robert’s actions in season 3. While he pushed Evelyn toward accepting she lost her battle against Robert in Mayor of Kingstown season 3, episode 3, Mike also complained about Robert’s violence to his face, as Robert’s actions made the tentative peace with the gangs more volatile. Mike wouldn’t have batted an eyelid at Robert’s violence in Mayor of Kingstown seasons 1 and 2, but Robert’s extreme reactions started to impede his work as mayor.

After all, Robert killing the first bomber didn’t let Mike discover whether it was Callahan calling the bombing or past AB leadership, making Callahan stronger as a result. While Robert’s job seemed safe from Evelyn’s attacks for now, Mayor of Kingstown changed how it portrayed Robert’s violence by making it less acceptable, hinting at the drama facing its Robert problem at last. The interim DA finally making Robert pay could let Mayor of Kingstown season 4 have a less violent police force, hopefully taking out of the equation one of Mayor of Kingstown’s longstanding problems.
