An expert cosplay build has highlighted the on-screen potential of an influential, if controversial, Spider-Man storyline. The “Superior Spider-Man” has been very divisive since his original run in 2012, but fans have always wondered what this version would look like in live action, a question they have had to turn to cosplay to answer.
As showcased on Instagram, expert Spider-Man cosplayer @peetz_spoody, in collaboration with editor @wens.1998, faithfully recreated a comic book panel depicting the “Superior”-era Peter Parker in his secret laboratory, surrounded by Spider-bots.
The iconic black-and-red suit of the Superior Spider-Man shines through with careful editing work, offering a tease of what this darker incarnation of Marvel’s Webslinger could look like in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, if the company took the ambitious step of adapting the “Superior Spider-Man” story arc for the screen.

After Peter Parker died in Doc Ock’s body, Otto vowed to carry on Spider-Man’s legacy in Peter’s body as the “Superior Spider-Man.” Octavius upgraded Spider-Man’s suit, creating detachable Spider limbs, and various other Spider-themed robots, weaponry, and experiments. However, Otto pushed away all of Peter Parker’s superhero, and personal, allies, and was fixated on becoming the most powerful superhero in existence. However readers might have felt the storyline, @peetz_spoody’s cosplay of the Superior Spider-Man costume makes it undeniable that it would look incredible on screen.
Spider-Man has always been defined by his morality, and spider powers, but he is also a brilliant inventor and scientist. Peter has created numerous weapons, suits, and gadgets to give him an edge against his opponents and protect the city more efficiently. Writers have frequently explored the tech-genius aspect of Spider-Man’s character, but never took it as far as was done with Otto Octavius during his time as the Superior Spider-Man. Otto founded Parker Industries and became a new-generation Iron Man, developing nanotech and making high-quality upgrades for Spider-Man’s costume.
Superior Spider-Man Would Be A Bold Storyline For The MCU’s Webslinger
An Ambitious Adaptation
As @peetza_spoody’s rendition of the character emphasizes, the Superior Spider-Man suit – and more importantly, the Superior Spider-Man storyline – would be a bold direction for the MCU’s Spider-Man. Especially considering that the MCU’s early concept art for Spider-Man drew inspiration from the Superior Spider-Man, there is so much potential in adapting the story for the MCU. It would perhaps be a surprising move for Marvel, but the Superior Spider-Man’s suit design, if nothing else, deserves to make it to the screen.
