Euphoria‘s Alanna Ubach offers a progress update on the status of the hit HBO show. Because of ongoing delays and reported disagreements about the story’s direction, there has been a lot of speculation about what the hyper-stylized teen drama from creator Sam Levinson will look like when it returns. However, in recent comments about Euphoria season 3, top executive Casey Bloys did confirm that the core cast would return.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant‘s Grant Hermanns, Ubach addressed the delays of Euphoria season 3. The actor, who plays Suze Howard, the mother of Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie Howard and Maude Apatow’s Lexi Howard, confirmed that Levinson is writing the scripts though she mentioned that she doesn’t know when filming will take place. Ubach also believes the stakes are high for the upcoming episodes due to how the previous seasons impacted the characters. Read her full comment below:

It definitely is rolling. I think Sam right now is writing it, and I think that the stakes are really high because season one and two were really, really affected people, and so season three really has to, it carries a lot of weight and pressure, so I don’t know when they start filming. I’m looking forward to seeing what Sam has in store for season three. He’s just such a genius, that guy. So cool.

Euphoria Season 3’s Confirmed Time Jump Is Part Of The Delay

The Show Will No Longer Be In High School.

Bloys, the Chairman and CEO of Content at HBO and Max, confirmed that Euphoria season 3 would feature “the same core cast.” It should be noted that Bloys does not mention any specific cast members by name, though he was responding to a question about Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer. The HBO executive was more forthcoming about the show’s story details, confirming a time jump.

There has been speculation about the story’s direction after the Euphoria season 2 ending and the death of cast member Angus Cloud. A report mentioned that one possible version featured Zendaya’s Rue Bennett taking on a relatively smaller role as a private investigator. HBO has disputed those claims, releasing a statement that they remain committed to releasing a new season of the hit drama. But in the interim, until Euphoria is ready to film, the cast has been freed up to pursue other projects. Schafer, for instance, has joined Prime Video’s upcoming Blade Runner series.

What Is Going On With Euphoria Season 3? Delay & Cast Problems Explained

Euphoria fans have been anxiously awaiting season 3 for a long time, and it sounds like they will have to wait even longer after additional delays.

There is no telling what the time jump might mean for Euphoria‘s larger cast, including Ubach, if the main characters are no longer portraying teenagers. Despite the optimistic statements about the Emmy-winning teen drama, which is available to stream on Max, it’s still an open question when a third installment will finally start up and what it might look like if it does.
