Inside Out 2 has earned a staggering gross during its first week in theaters. The new Pixar animated movie is the second installment in the franchise that began in 2015. It continues to follow the anthropomorphized emotions inside the head of young girl Riley, who is now approaching puberty and is forced to reckon with unsettling new emotions. The Inside Out 2 box office has already marked the movie as a smash hit after it opened to $154.2 million, the second-best debut for an animated movie in history behind Pixar’s earlier sequel Incredibles 2.
Per Deadline, Inside Out 2 has raced to a worldwide box office total of $438.7 million in just one week. It has become only the fourth movie to pass the $400 million mark worldwide in 2024. So far, the only movies that are still above it on the worldwide box office chart for the year are Kung Fu Panda 4, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (which recently became the highest-grossing movie in the Monsterverse), and the Denis Villeneuve sci-fi epic Dune: Part Two.

Inside Out 2
Inside Out 2 is the sequel to the 2015 original film, which starred a young girl named Riley with a head full of emotions. – literally. With Amy Pohler as Joy, Bill Hader as fear, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, and Lewis Black as Anger, the all-star cast brought to life the emotions that adolescents face as they grow, change, and adapt to new situations. This sequel, currently in development, will bring Amy Pohler back as Joy, with Riley, now a teenager.
