Sean Murray, Michael Weatherly, and Cote de Pablo have an amazing NCIS reunion for the first time in 10 years. Playing Tim McGee, Tony DiNozzo Jr, and Ziva David, they are widely regarded as Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ best NCIS team. They were also the longest-serving core thus far in the show, becoming a squad after Kate Todd died in the season 2 finale. Only Tony was part of NCIS‘ inaugural Major Case Response Team (MCRT) crew, but it didn’t take long until McGee and David endeared themselves to the procedural’s avid viewers.

A decade since they were all last together, Murray, Weatherly, and de Pablo all come together to talk about their individual and collective time on NCIS through Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch podcast. Both Tony and Ziva have come back to NCIS since their respective departures. Ziva teamed up with Gibbs and resurface following her presumed death, while Tony came back for Ducky’s tribute episode in season 21. Both of them have been reunited with McGee, but separately. The trio hasn’t shared the screen since Ziva left, and this particular Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch podcast outing is a reminder of how great they are together. Somehow, their off-screen dynamic is similar to their characters’. Indirectly, it also raises questions about McGee’s eventual reunion with his old teammates.

The question now is whether there are plans to make this into reality. There are actually a couple of avenues to do this. Firstly, by bringing back both Ziva and Tony to MCRT in the flagship series. NCIS season 22 is already confirmed, and it could work as a launching pad for the couple’s spinoff. That leads to the second option, which is for McGee to join his old buddies in their NCIS: Tony & Ziva adventures. He doesn’t need to be a series regular, but he can provide help for them as they go on the run across Europe.

Overall, the decision will rest upon the writers behind both NCIS and its upcoming spinoff. As previously mentioned, it shouldn’t be difficult to stage the trio’s reunion in the franchise. Maybe Murray, Weatherly, and de Pablo’s latest stint in Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch can convince the creatives of the TV universe that this crossover needs to happen.
