DC’s Next-Gen Flash and Superman Re-Create Their Legacy’s Ultimate Test

Superman Flash Race DC Comics

When it comes to speed, there’s hardly anyone in the DCU who can give the Flash a run for his money. But that hasn’t stopped fans from wondering who would win in a race between the Fastest Man Alive and the Man of Tomorrow. Over the years, DC has pitted Superman and Flash against one another in numerous races. Sometimes it’s a race for charity, other times it’s a legitimate test of their speed. It’s usually Flash who winds up pulling ahead in his friendly races with Superman, but Clark’s power is enough to keep the speedster on his toes.

Schmidt’s cover is an interesting change-up to the usual race. More often than not, the Superman/Flash scenario involves Clark and Barry. Instead, this variant showcases two next-gen heroes who have adopted their legacies’ names. Wally and Jon have never had an official race in the comics, but this cover raises the question of who would win in such a match-up. Jon’s been predicted to one day surpass his father in terms of power, but Wally’s already shattered records as the Flash. Perhaps DC Comics could capitalize on this cover and show Wally and Jon’s race in an actual story.

This Superman and Flash Race Needs to Happen in Continuity

Superman-Flash-Race

Unfortunately, the race presented on Schmidt’s variant is just a hypothetical and there’s no indication that this is something set to happen in the story itself. That being said, it would be nice to see who would win in a race between Wally and Jon. Given the god-level feats he’s pulled off before, it’s almost certain that Flash would win. But maybe the junior Superman could wind up surprising fans. Hopefully, DC Comics will one day explore this match-up in a story to see whether Flash or Superman would come out ahead.

The Flash #10 is available on June 25th from DC Comics.
