Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe shares some advice for the upcoming show’s creative team. It was announced in April 2023 that Warner Bros. Discovery would be developing a Harry Potter TV show adaptation for their Max streaming service, which would cover all seven books of the famous novel series and include the involvement of author J.K. Rowling. It’s set to debut in 2026, although the project is still in its early stages and no casting or plot details have been revealed. However, there have been reports about the writers who could join the project.

Speaking with ET Online at the recent Tony Awards, Radcliffe shared his advice for the team behind the upcoming Harry Potter television show. The actor, who won his first Tony for his role in Merrily We Roll Along, shared that the cast should be allowed to just be kids and reflected on how social media has altered what it means to be famous compared to when the Harry Potter movies first premiered. Read his quote below:

I’ve got advice for everyone else. Just like, let them be kids still. I can’t imagine what it would have been like to do that in the age of social media. We were kind of a little bit before that.

Why HBO’s Harry Potter TV Remake Can’t End The Same Way As The Books Or Movies

The ending epilogue of Harry Potter worked okay for the books and movies, but HBO’s TV remake’s unique format means some changes will be necessary.

Hillier wrote and executive produced The Last Kingdom, a fantasy series for the BBC, alongside past work on British soaps like EastEnders and Holby City. Along with her experience in genre work, her past in soaps reveals an emphasis on developing compelling relationships with the core cast. Jordan worked on the cult favorite young adult dramedy Teenage Bounty Hunters for Netflix, while Lesslie wrote the recent hit movie The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. As for Moran, he’s notably created the supernatural thriller The Devil’s Hour. Gardiner previously worked on Succession and His Dark Materials.

Radcliffe, however, makes an interesting point about how the upcoming Harry Potter cast will be released at a very different time compared to the movies and how that fact should not be overlooked.

Harry Potter is HBO’s remake of the iconic Wizarding World film series that consisted of eight films between 2001 and 2011. Each season adapts a book from JK Rowling’s popular series and provides more book-accurate details than the movies did. Upon the announcement of the Harry Potter TV show, the series received harsh criticism for the involvement of Rowling and for many thinking a reboot was unnecessary.
