Warning! Preview pages ahead for Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #28!One of Superman’s oldest allies has just gained power that far surpasses the Man of Steel. The DC Universe has been invaded by a powerful Sixth-Dimensional force But a shocking upgrade could help Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen turn things around and save the DC Universe from the wrath of Doom-Mite.

In a preview for Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #28 by Mark Waid, Dan Mora, and Travis Mercer, Jimmy Olsen has been decreed Earth’s mightiest hero by Doom-Mite. Unfortunately, Doom-Mite intends to best the powerless Olsen in combat. The Justice League readies themselves to fight Doom-Mite, but he snaps his fingers and sends them all away.

Doom-Mite approaches an absolutely terrified Olsen and demands that he choose a weapon to fight while Mr. Mxyzptlk desperately attempts to leave. Despite Robin’s best efforts to keep Mxyzptlk around, the imp transfers his incredible Fifth-Dimensional powers to Superman’s pal, turning Jimmy into an imp.

Jimmy Olsen Just Got All of Mr. Mxyzptlk’s Powers

Tragedy struck the DCU when a powerful villain from the Sixth Dimension decided to test the might of Earth’s greatest heroes. Doom-Mite formed a legion of imps modeled after the DCU’s greatest villains and unleashed them onto the world, believing that only the greatest hero would overcome such a trial. With no other option, Mxyzptlk used his Fifth-Dimensional magic to empower Jimmy Olsen and give life to some of his greatest transformations like Flamebird and Turtle Man. After Olsen saved the day, Doom-Mite appeared before Superman’s pal and congratulated him, only to challenge Jimmy to a fight to the death.

Jimmy Olsen has had a lot of bizarre transformations over the years. He’s been a werewolf, a genie, a human porcupine, and even a Bizarro. But for the first time in his life, Jimmy has been given the god-level power of one of the DC Universe’s most powerful villains. As strong as Superman is, even his might can’t compare to Mxyzptlk, which is why their encounters usually end with Clark tricking the imp. Jimmy might not have asked for it, but now, he’s got power that far exceeds Superman’s, and that may help him defeat the threat that Doom-Mite presents.

If Doom-Mite’s invasion has proven anything, it’s that the Third Dimension’s heroes like the Justice League can’t stop him. Doom-Mite is from the Sixth Dimension and is simply far too powerful for Superman to handle. But Mxyzptlk’s Fifth-Dimensional powers could be effective in taking Doom-Mite down if used by someone with a heroic enough spirit. Jimmy might seem out of his depth, but even without powers, he always rises to the occasion. Now that he’s got Fifth-Dimensional magic on his side, he’ll be able to do the one thing Superman can’t right now and bring Doom-Mite down.
