Warning: Major Spoilers Ahead for Delicious in Dungeon Season 1!

Delicious in Dungeon just concluded its first season, and it’s been a feast for more than simply the eyes, leaving viewers with some serious questions. It’s been a tantalizing two cours, exploring culinary ethics, friendship, love, and the nature of the soul’s link to the body. But much like everything else in Delicious in Dungeon, everything inevitably comes back to food, so fans might want certain aspects of season 1’s ending explained.

As Studio Trigger’s latest project and a thorough adaptation of the beloved eponymous Kadokawa Shoten manga, also known as Dungeon Meshi, Delicious in Dungeon quickly gained viral appeal as Netflix’s newest hot anime. It boasts endearing characters, gorgeous cooking sequences, and some surprisingly nail-biting combat scenes with the deadly monsters in the dungeon’s depths.

Laios Touden and his crew enter the dungeon together to free their friend Falin at the beginning of the series, but in Delicious in Dungeon’s season 1 ending, they embark on a similar quest.

Delicious in Dungeon Season 1 Ending Shows Falin’s Rescue Plan

The Secret All Along Was to Clean Their Plate

Senshi offers a wild suggestion to prevent the same issues from causing Falin to lose her humanity again: remove her human portion from the dragon flesh beneath her, eating the remaining dragon parts. In the season 1 ending of Delicious in Dungeon, Senshi proposes that this would disentangle the dragon’s soul from Falin, initially caused when Thistle, the mad mage in the dungeon, changed Falin’s form. When the crew originally resurrected Falin after she was digested by the red dragon, parts of the dragon’s flesh wound up in the blood of the dragon’s corpse, joining her body in the process.

Senshi likens Falin’s link to the dragon as an egg on bacon, linked but still able to be disconnected, unlike Izutsumi, whose catlike beast-man traits have a much more complicated connection to her tallman body. This results in the most important next step and most ambitious meal ever planned in Delicious in Dungeon’s season 1 ending. However, to do so would be an enormous undertaking, which, by Laios’ estimates, would take years for the party given the dragon’s flesh. After all, even harvesting its meat was like a mining operation; they would need to call on previous allies.

Delicious in Dungeon Season 2’s Plan Revealed

A Three-Step Plan for Falin’s Rescue and Beyond

Delicious in Dungeon season 1’s ending teases cooperation with the numerous parties met by Laios, Marcille, Senshi, Chilchuck, and Izutsumi to feast on the dragon parts and free Falin from her predicament. Readers of the manga will already know the plan is more complicated than it sounds, and newcomers to the anime can be excited by the tease that not everything will go according to plan. Soon, more dangerous foes will surface, but naturally, more exotic meals will be planned, especially as Delicious in Dungeon season 1’s ending was immediately followed by news of season 2’s upcoming release.

This means there will be more culinary adventures featuring Laios’ party alongside other groups like Kabru’s party, Senshi’s orc connections, the Golden Castle residents, and critical characters including Namari and Shuro. However, Laios still sees this as not enough, with at least another mid-sized group being ideal, teasing more characters to come. With Delicious in Dungeon season 1’s ending, a feast of dragons and more of the dungeon’s secrets are soon to appear in time for season 2, so viewers should save some room for seconds.
