Jennifer Walters’ She-Hulk is getting a new look, as the Avengers recruit the Jade Giantess for a major new team. As perhaps the superhero who has best integrated her superhero and civilian lives, She-Hulk has had a lot of hero looks. Now, she’s putting a new update on her iconic purple and white leotard – a stylish redesign that comes just in time for the debut of the Avengers Emergency Response Squad.

In a preview of Sensational She-Hulk #9, She-Hulk is invited to the Avengers’ base – the sentient dimensional ship known as the Impossibe City. Captain Marvel shows Jennifer around, as well as gifting her a new costume designed by her, the Scarlet Witch and the Black Panther.

While the comic doesn’t reveal why Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have invited She-Hulk to their base, the issue’s summary does promise that “The most explosive SHE-HULK story in HISTORY starts here! Something is brewing that is going to have effects felt beyond just SENSATIONAL SHE-HULK. You cannot afford to miss it!” In this context, it’s likely that She-Hulk is being invited to join the upcoming Avengers Emergency Response Squad, aka AVENG.E.R.S.

Captain America Is Assembling a Brand New Team

Marvel recently revealed an upcoming new series titled Avengers Assemble, where a team comprised of Wasp, Hawkeye, Hercules, She-Hulk, Photon, Night Thrasher, Lightning, Wonder Man, Shang-Chi, and Lightspeed will go on globe-trotting, single-issue missions that focus on fast-paced adventure. Written by Steve Orlando and drawn by artists including Cory Smith, Scot Eaton, Marcelo Ferreira and Valentina Pinti, the series will apparently bring back the Avengers’ matching jackets from the 90s, giving the team a unified look that is seemingly previewed by Jennifer’s new wardrobe.

She-Hulk is a longtime Avenger in good standing, bringing Hulk-strength to the team without her cousin Bruce Banner’s unpredictable rage. The AVENG.E.R.S. are intended to recreate classic Avengers adventures with much-loved team members who aren’t part of the main team, which is currently dedicated to addressing the cosmic ‘Tribulation Events’ with Kang the Conqueror as an unlikely consultant against his rival Myrddin. However, the world doesn’t stand still for any one villain, and it makes sense to have a powerhouse emergency team on call. She-Hulk‘s new look is a great new twist on her most iconic look, seemingly preparing her to once again fight alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Sensational She-Hulk #9 is coming June 19 from Marvel Comics, with Avengers Assemble #1 coming September 11.
