His name carries a tremendous amount of weight, and any project with him attached as a director is almost guaranteed to be a hit. If Blunt does secure a role in Spielberg’s UFO film, it would just be the latest movie in her extremely impressive sci-fi filmography.

Blunt has starred in some of the biggest and best sci-fi movies of the past decade, ever since the early 2010s. Her reign began in 1979 with the first Alien movie, and it’s endured through several projects. Weaver has been in several other Alien movies, most of the Ghostbusters franchise, both Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water, and even a sci-fi parody movie in Galaxy Quest, just to name a few. That’s a veritable dynasty of iconic sci-fi movies and characters, and they made Weaver one of the most recognizable actors in the entire genre.

Weaver’s legacy in sci-fi is legendary, but Blunt’s work with Spielberg could be enough to make her a contender to take Weaver’s spot. Both Blunt and Spielberg are two of the most recognizable names in Hollywood, and their potential movie together could be a massive hit, both financially and critically. Even with that success, though, Blunt could still have a hard time taking the throne.
