Emily Blunt has been a master of science-fiction for years now, and one of her reported upcoming roles could cement her as the queen of modern sci-fi. Emily Blunt has had a prolific acting career, and she’s only been getting more successful as of late. She starred in The Fall Guy opposite Ryan Gosling this year, and just last year she played Kitty in Oppenheimer, both of which were very well received by critics. Blunt has established herself as a major name in showbusiness, and she’s been particularly dominant in science fiction.

There have been several action stars who were also sci-fi icons, and Emily Blunt could soon be added to that list. She’s had some impressively successful sci-fi movies since 2010, both financially and critically. Blunt’s filmography is already impressive, but there’s one upcoming movie that she’s in talks to star in, and if those plans come to fruition, it would firmly place her at the top of the genre. Blunt could easily become the new queen of science fiction, and potentially even dethrone the reigning champion of over four decades.

Blunt has starred in some of the biggest and best sci-fi movies of the past decade, ever since the early 2010s. Blunt was in films like The Adjustment Bureau, Looper, both A Quiet Place and its sequel, A Quiet Place Part II, and Edge of Tomorrow. That list is already incredibly impressive on its own, but adding a Spielberg movie about UFOs to it would easily make Blunt one of the most prolific sci-fi actors in decades. Blunt isn’t the first actor to dominate the sci-fi genre. For decades now, Sigourney Weaver has been the undisputed queen of science fiction. Weaver’s legacy in sci-fi is legendary, but Blunt’s work with Spielberg could be enough to make her a contender to take Weaver’s spot. Both Blunt and Spielberg are two of the most recognizable names in Hollywood, and their potential movie together could be a massive hit, both financially and critically. Even with that success, though, Blunt could still have a hard time taking the throne. Weaver may be cast in The Mandalorian & Grogu, and she still has an active sci-fi franchise in the Avatar movies, which are massive earners, and Avatar 3 is set to release next year.

Even if Blunt doesn’t take control of the genre away from Weaver, her upcoming work is very exciting for sci-fi fans. Along with Spielberg’s UFO movie, Blunt is also rumored to be involved in a sequel to Edge of Tomorrow, and while that isn’t confirmed, she has expressed her interest in reprising her role of Rita. In addition to those possible projects, and the impressive movies she’s already made, Blunt could be in several more projects to come. Emily Blunt is at the height of her career, and she’ll surely have more opportunities in the future to become the queen of science fiction.
