2024 opened on a strong note for anime with the premiere of Studio Trigger’s latest anime, Delicious in Dungeon. While not an original series like Studio Trigger is known for producing, their always gorgeous animation and direction perfectly complemented Ryoko Kui’s brilliant storytelling, and it’s set to go down as one of the best anime of 2024.

Delicious in Dungeon was a truly standout anime from start to finish, and fortunately, it’s not done just yet. Following the season 1 finale, Studio Trigger announced that Delicious in Dungeon had been renewed for a second season, and considering where season 1 left off, season 2 should be more than enough to close out the series.

At the moment, all information about Delicious in Dungeon season 2 is sparse, but what little is known is still plenty worth keeping track of.

The Latest Delicious In Dungeon Season 2 News

Everything we know about Delicious in Dungeon season 2

At the time of writing, the only real news about Delicious in Dungeon season 2 is that it’s been officially greenlit. Season 2 was only just confirmed in the immediate aftermath of the season 1 finale, so there isn’t going to be a lot of information about it beyond the basic idea of it continuing Laios and his friends’ fight against Thistle the lunatic magician. More news about season 2 is sure to come out as it moves further along in production, of course, and updates to reflect that will be made accordingly.

When Can Fans Expect Delicious In Dungeon Season 2?

Going along with how little news there is, there is currently no confirmed release date for Delicious in Dungeon season 2. If season 2 were going to premiere in fall 2024, that likely would have been stated at the time of the initial reveal, so in all likelihood, Delicious in Dungeon season 2 will premiere sometime in 2025. Whether that potential release window is affected by the production of the Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt sequel New Panty & Stocking is unknown, but if it is, it hopefully won’t be too high a degree.

Who Will Be Producing Delicious In Dungeon Season 2?

Delicious in Dungeon season 2 will still be produced by Studio Trigger, and at the time of writing, Delicious in Dungeon is set to maintain its season 1 staff for season 2, which includes Yoshihiro Miyajima as director, Kimiko Ueno as scriptwriter, and Yasunori Mitsuda and Shunsuke Tsuchiya as the composers. The staff list could all change during season 2’s production cycle, but unless Studio Trigger goes through a major overhaul in that time, that’s unlikely to happen.

Delicious In Dungeon Season 2’s Story Explained

What to expect from Delicious in Dungeon season 2

Delicious in Dungeon season 2 will continue where season 1 left off with the Touden party looking to free the Winged Lion, defeat Thistle the lunatic magician, and save Falin. Laios still doesn’t have a concrete plan for the first two points, but as for Falin, Laios believes that eating all the dragon portions of Falin’s body will let her regenerate into a human form. With how big Falin’s body is, Laios concludes that he’ll need everyone on the island to help eat her, making it all the more important for Laios to become the dungeon lord.

Meanwhile, Kabru will lead the Canaries, the elf government’s secret police force for dungeon management, through an expedition to the dungeon to show them that the dungeon is in danger of growing too large and releasing its monsters onto the island. Between the unpredictability of the Canaries and Namari’s comments about the dungeon changing, though, that’s not going to be easy, and it’s sure to make for even more exciting action and set pieces for the anime.

Following the season 1 finale, a trailer was released alongside the announcement of Delicious in Dungeon season 2. The trailer is mostly just recycled footage from season 1, but the last scene shows Laios’ party confronting Thistle the lunatic magician and an army of dragons; that’s sure to be an exciting battle in season 2, and Studio Trigger already having footage for it suggests that it won’t be too long a wait for season 2’s release.

Everyone who had a role in season 1 of the Delicious in Dungeon anime should be returning for season 2 in some capacity. The only notable character who will need a voice actor is the Winged Lion, although some dialogue in the final trailer suggests that the narrator, voiced by Satoshi Mikami, has been the Winged Lion the entire time.

Since there’s no confirmation of Delicious in Dungeon season 2’s release date, there’s also no confirmation of where it will be streaming. Netflix will likely stream Delicious in Dungeon season 2 just like they streamed season 1, but Netflix could lose the rights to another streaming service like Crunchyroll or Hulu. All of that, of course, is purely speculative.
