School Spirits season 2 has received a major filming and cast update. The Paramount+ show follows Maddie Nears (Peyton List), a teenager in Split River, Wisconsin who finds herself in the afterlife, where she interacts with other dead students at her school and attempts to solve her own disappearance. The show’s ensemble cast also includes Milo Manheim, Kristian Ventura, Nick Pugliese, Spencer MacPherson, Sarah Yarkin, Kiara Pichardo, and Rainbow Wedell. School Spirits season 2 was officially renewed in June 2023, just one month after the season 1 finale premiered.

Per TVLine, School Spirits season 2 has officially kicked off production in anticipation of its premiere this Fall. The entire main cast, namely List, Manheim, Ventura, Pugliese, MacPherson, Yarkin, Pichardo, and Wedell, will return alongside Josh Zuckerman, who has been promoted from recurring to series regular. Also joining the cast are newcomers Cihang Ma as Quinn, Jess Gabor as Janet Hamilton, Miles Elliot as Yuri, and Zack Calderon as Diego Herrera, along with returning recurring stars Patrick Gilmore, Ian Tracey, and Maria Dizzia.

All Four Incoming Stars Have Appeared In Major Projects

The quartet of young actors joining the cast after the School Spirits season 1 ending are all up-and-coming stars with major titles under their belts. This is true even though Zack Calderon only has three credits. While that may be the case, they were all on prominent television shows, as he kicked off his onscreen career with an episode of FBI before starring in eight episodes of the Prime Video survival show The Wilds and six episodes of the Apple TV+ comedy murder mystery The Afterparty.

Cihang Ma also gained extensive television experience before joining the School Spirits show. In addition to voicing Dylan in the English dub of Presto! School of Magic, they have held small roles in well-known television titles including Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Gen V. Jess Gabor has appeared on similarly big shows. Though she has also made 10 movies so far in her career, her television experience is peppered with recognizable titles including Criminal Minds, Shameless, FBI: Most Wanted, and Grey’s Anatomy.

The final new School Spirits cast member, Miles Elliot, has also held major movie roles appearing opposite Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man and Elijah Wood in Cooties. On television, Elliot has also appeared in Grey’s Anatomy, Preacher, Austin & Ally, The Mentalist, and Vice Principals. With so much small screen experience under their belts, the new group of young actors will likely be able to get up to speed quickly as they flesh out the world of the show.
