Lucasfilm’s Dave Filoni has offered a promising update on his upcoming Star Wars projects, including Ahsoka season 2 and his untitled The Mandalorian-era movie. Ahsoka season 2 was confirmed to be in development alongside Star Wars’ announcement of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, which is being helmed by Jon Favreau. No other updates have been given ever since, which is also the case for Filoni’s own Star Wars movie, which was announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023. Now, however, Filoni has had a chance to offer a promising update on both his upcoming Star Wars projects.

Ahsoka Season 2 Being Filoni’s Current Focus Is Promising

This Teases Even More News About The TV Show In The Near Future

While it’s exciting to hear that Filoni’s already gotten a head start on his movie, it’s even more reassuring to know that his current focus is on Ahsoka season 2. The Star Wars TV show was a big hit amongst viewers, and much of the reason why season 2 is happening is because of the high audience demand for it. If Filoni is focused on finishing development for the season and moving towards production, this could promise even more news about Ahsoka season 2 in the near future.

It’s also very sensible that Filoni mentions Ahsoka season 2, his movie, and Favreau’s movie together, considering the three projects will no doubt connect to each other the way other projects in the “Mandoverse” already do. If Filoni knows how Ahsoka season 2 and The Mandalorian & Grogu movie will end, then it makes sense that he would want to make some progress on his movie. This is very informative about the connective tissue that will continue to piece this era together, which will hopefully translate well on both the big and small screens.

For now, however, it’s best that Filoni is limiting his focus to Ahsoka season 2 primarily. Even beyond making progress and generating more news and updates for viewers, Filoni’s work on season 2 is vitally important, as it will likely add as the launchpad for The Mandalorian era to go from the small screen to the big screen. There are a lot of loose threads from season 1 to tie up in season 2, which means this story could end up becoming quite involved. Whatever the case, it’s exciting to get an update on Filoni’s Star Wars projects, especially one as promising as this.
