Bridgerton season 3 is currently underway, with the second half of the season being released to Netflix today, on June 13. The third season is getting a lot of attention from audiences so far, with fans particularly interested in one steamy carriage scene. The first half of Bridgerton season 3 has done well on the streaming platform thus far, hitting no. 1 on the Netflix Global Top 10 chart during its first week on the service.

Bridgerton Season 3’s Time-Jump Explained

The end of Bridgerton season 3, episode 8 includes a surprising time jump that places the period drama farther in the future by almost a year.

Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell reveals when season 4 will be released, as per an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Brownell estimated that she and the rest of the Bridgerton team are “on a two-year pace” to release Bridgerton season 4. In terms of where they are at in the process, Browell revealed that scripts are currently being written and that they are “towards the end with the writers room season.” Brownell assured that they are “trying to speed up” while also maintaining the quality of the series. Check out the full quote from Brownell below:

I have almost slipped up a couple of times so keep asking, and maybe I’ll slip up. I’m really excited about what we’re writing. We’re towards the end with the writers room season, with the scripts. And I feel like it’s some of my best work and my writers room’s best work. We’ve just really gelled our collaboration, and we’re firing on all cylinders so I can’t wait for fans to see what we have.

We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language. And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up but somewhere in that range.

How Quickly Can Bridgerton Season 4 Arrive?

Bridgerton season 4 was confirmed all the way back in April 2021, during the production of season 2. At that time, Netflix confirmed that Bridgerton would be returning for seasons 3 and 4, even though season 2 had not been released yet. This has allowed Brownell and her team to have more time with the development of season 4, as the story arc could be sketched out in tandem with season 3, and the writing could be well underway given the confirmation.

Historically, Bridgerton has had at least a year and change between its seasons. Bridgerton season 1 came out in December 2020, while season 2 came just over a year later, in March 2022. Season 2 took over two years to hit the platform again, releasing its first half in May 2024. If Bridgerton season 4 stayed on this pace, the earliest audiences could see the series would be summer 2025, but it could go as far as 2026.

The massive success of Bridgerton season 3, however, makes the expedience of the season 4 return more likely. Brownell herself admitted that there are efforts to speed up the production, which in part may come from Netflix, as the streamer might be focusing more of its time and money on Bridgerton. Netflix has other big projects coming, including Wednesday season 2 and Stranger Things season 5, but with Bridgerton season 3’s success, the team could see their timeline quicken.
