Warning: SPOILERS ahead for The Amazing Spider-Man #51Despite his incredible arachnid abilities, The Amazing Spider-Man’s greatest strength has always been his ingenious intellect. Peter Parker’s brain is every bit as spectacular as his masked persona, and it’s gotten him out of more tight scrapes than fans can count. Spider-Man’s quick thinking also managed to put more than a few villains down for the count, and his newest gadgets demonstrate just how dangerous his genius really is.

The Amazing Spider-Man #51 by Zeb Wells, Ed McGuinness, Todd Nauck, and many more sees Pete’s Spider-Goblin sicced upon the iconic Sinister Six. Peter makes it clear he’s out for blood, brutally taking down each member of the Six with his deadly weaponry.

Launching into action, the Vulture tells Spidey that his vengeance has been a long time coming, only for Peter to respond, “Yes, too long. Because I’ve always done you the courtesy of fighting fair. And it’s clear that, by holding back all these years, Spider-Man has been protecting New York’s villains just as much as its innocents.

The Sinister Six Are No Match For The Spider-Goblin

Parker’s Genius Is Proven His Deadliest Weapon

Without any regard for their well-being, Peter drops the Sinister Six in minutes and doesn’t so much as break a sweat. His new gadgets make short work of Doctor Octopus, Vulture, Sandman, and Electro, and while he chooses to go a more physical route with Mysterio and Kraven, Spider-Man maintains his chilling brutality. If not for the Spider-Goblin, Parker wouldn’t treat his enemies so callously, but he’d clearly have a much harder time in battle against some of his deadliest enemies. But refusing to hold back any longer against the Six reframes Peter’s history of restraint.

Spider-Man’s greatest weakness is arguably his faith in people. Even for his enemies, he’ll always go the extra mile to save anyone who needs it, and he considers the lives of even his greatest foes to be sacrosanct. Unfortunately for the Sinister Six, the Spider-Goblin feels no such restraint, so the force they face in this issue is Peter Parker’s darkest impulses and unbridled ingenuity unleashed. Every Spider-Man fan knows that the Wallcrawler is constantly holding back so as to avoid killing his enemies, but this battle makes it clear that an uninhibited Spider-Man is good for nobody.

Spider-Man’s Code Protects His Villains And Their Victims

Peter Parker Could Represent An Incredible Threat

Spider-Man being attacked by the Sinister Six in Marvel Comics

Spider-Man is one of Marvel’s greatest heroes because he cares about his enemies as much as he does their victims, even when it costs him. For years, Peter Parker has held his power – and more importantly, his genius – in check while doing all he can to protect the Big Apple from some of the most dangerous villains in comics. But with the malevolent Spider-Goblin persona having manifested once again, both New York City and its villains are going to need protection from the not-so-Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Spider-Man

Spider-Man is the name given to several individuals who have employed a spider-moniker throughout Marvel Comics. Typically gaining their powers through a bite from a radioactive spider, the different Spider-Man heroes employ super-strength, agility, and intellect while utilizing webbing to swing and tangle up their foes. The most notable of these Spider-Men is Peter Parker, who remains one of the most popular superheroes throughout the world.
