One Piece has taken the world by storm for its 25th anniversary. The legendary manga and anime series by Eiichiro Oda is currently celebrating 25 years in the best way possible. The series has become an icon in Japanese entertainment and, in 2023, became one of Netflix’s most popular shows. The anime series first aired on October 20, 1999, and starting on June 10, 2024, it is celebrating over two decades of worldwide domination.

Japanese manga artist and creator of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda, began working for Shonen Jump Magazine at 17 years old. Since then, he has become one of the most successful manga artists of all time. Following the worldwide success of the live-action adaptation of One Piece from Netflix, Oda’s manga series is now the best-selling piece of literature written by a single person of all time, outselling the Batman comics and J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter. Once again, One Piece has hit another major milestone for its 25th anniversary.

One Piece Becomes the First Anime to Take Over the Las Vegas Sphere

To commemorate the joy that it has brought to a multi-generational audience, One Piece has officially become the first anime to take over the world’s largest screen: the Las Vegas Sphere. In an epic week-long event, Oda’s masterpiece will claim the giant sphere in the center of America’s most extravagant city. From June 10-16, fans of all ages can enjoy a 90-second display of the anime on a monstrous array of LED lights that represents the anime’s massive impact on entertainment media. For those die-hard fans who aren’t able to witness the spectacular light show in person, Toei Animation’s official YouTube channel posted the full sequence for every One Piece lover to enjoy.
