Everyone Else Burns season 2 is on the way to The CW, with the renewal confirmed before the quirky British sitcom’s US premiere had even arrived. Everyone Else Burns focuses on the Lewis family and their unwavering belief that the world is due to end in a decade. The fanatically religious Lewis’s are led by patriarch David, played by Simon Bird of The Inbetweeners and Friday Night Dinner fame. While David wants nothing more than to climb the church ladder and his wife and two children seem to support him on the surface, the rest of the Lewis family secretly have their own, repressed agendas.

The show has been such a success in the UK that British network Channel 4 renewed a second season in mid-2023. The CW were thrilled by this news, and have already confirmed they’ll be hosting Everyone Else Burns season 2 when the release date arrives in the US. The quirky British sitcom about the end of days has already found a firm footing with audiences, with speculation on what to expect from the next season of Everyone Else Burns already high.

Though news has been rather scant since the first season arrived on American TVs in 2023, the latest update confirms that Everyone Else Burns season 2 has begun filming. As reported by British Comedy Guide, the outlandish breakaway hit started shooting again in May 2024, and is expected to premiere on the UK’s Channel 4 sometime later in 2024. The update doesn’t clarify when the show will air in the US, but it will likely come shortly after it drops in its home country.

The report also announced a new cast member for season 2, introducing Fleabag alum Sian Clifford as Maude. Maude is described as having a radical view of domestic life which will challenge Fiona’s place in the family. It’s also been confirmed that season 2 will contain six episodes, just like its predecessor.

Everyone Else Burns season 2 is confirmed, and the British apocalyptic sitcom will be returning both in its native UK and in the US. Season 2 was given the go-ahead by Channel 4 in the UK in August 2023, a full 8 months after it premiered in January (via Deadline). The pick-up renewal in the US came much more quickly, with The CW confirming they’d be hosting Everyone Else Burns season 2 before the US premiere of the show in October 2023.

Everyone Else Burns Season 2 Cast

The Lewis Family Returns

The Everyone Else Burns season 2 cast will include many returning names from the first season, alongside some newcomers as well. The next season will once again focus on the Lewis family, meaning Simon Bird will be back as doom-saying patriarch David Lewis, alongside Kate O’Flynn as incredibly unfulfilled homemaker Fiona Lewis. The Lewis children are also coming back, with Amy James-Kelly reprising her role as teenager Rachel alongside her on-screen brother Aaron, played by Harry Connor.

Several supporting cast members have also been confirmed to return to the sophomore outing, but Everyone Else Burns season 2 has also added a new name as well. Best known for her role in Fleabag, Sian Clifford assumes the role of Maude, a determined fundamentalist whose beliefs on a woman’s place in the home threaten to further subjugate Fiona in the eyes of David.

Everyone Else Burns Season 2 Story

Will The Apocalypse Arrive?

The Lewis family in Everyone Else Burns looking proud and angelic in a promo image

The story of Everyone Else Burns season 2 was set up by the ending of the first season. Despite its themes of the end of the world and cult-like religious fanaticism, the individual arcs in the show are fairly contained, so it likely won’t see many huge shakeups in the underrated British sitcom’s second season. The finale of the first season teased a few things, including Rachel possibly breaking away from the Lewis family’s way of life all altogether. There’s also a schism brewing in the congregation, which could be a serious problem for David and his plans to rise to the top of the church.

The announcement of Sian Clifford’s Maude does add a new wrinkle to season 2’s story, and she’s described as a fundamentalist when it comes to the dynamics of women in the home. This puts her immediately at odds with Fiona’s desire for a more fulfilling life, and is bound to cause strife within the Lewis family and the congregation as a whole. The specifics will have to wait until the second season of Everyone Else Burns finally premieres.
