Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2 began in earnest in July 2023 to bring Rudy Greyrat to a new life following his heartbreak from Eris. However, as he grows up, he’s reunited with Sylphiette at the Ranoa University of Magic, soon finding himself married and with children on the way. But as Rudy becomes an adult, he encounters adult problems, much like his father.

Picking up where Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2 episode #21 left off, Rudy rescued Roxy from her extended time isolated in the labyrinth. While it’s initially awkward, her understandably not recognizing him after only knowing him as a child, the two immediately get closer again, with Paul’s predictably less-than-subtle suggestion. However, Rudy and Roxy’s chemistry is undeniable, as they have a history together, and soon, they plan to tackle another labyrinth, just the two of them.

However, the party soon makes significant progress in the Teleporter Labyrinth, exploring the last stratum before reaching the guardian. At first, it looks like an ordinary blue teleportation circle, but Rudy correctly deduces a concealed staircase beneath the floor leading to a crucial red circle. While this leads to the guardian of the labyrinth, it also leads to harrowing moments in the next episode of Jobless Reincarnation. While the quest may soon end, a new chapter in Rudy’s life begins, while another grimly closes.

The next episode of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, “Parents,” teases the events of the light novels with volume #12, chapters #8-10, beginning with “The Guardian of the Teleportation Labyrinth.” Here, the party will encounter the deadly Hydra, and crucially, they will find Zenith, whom they entered the labyrinth to retrieve. However, this will not come without a cost, as Rudy will face the greatest tragedy yet in exchange for defeating the Hydra. ì

The episode will discuss a crucial detail of Rudy’s original life, as he lost both his parents. Rudeus’ new family is one he has become far closer to as he emerges from his past trauma. More heartbreak will follow in this episode, however, and the cure for it will surely generate controversy and debate among fans. Regardless of opinions, everything that will happen in the following episodes is for Rudy’s healing, a running theme for the series.
