Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Flash #9!The curious life of one Flash Family member’s life has been succinctly summed up by a wanted poster of all things. Amid a conspiracy masterminded by a cabal of Flash’s worst enemies, speedsters everywhere are being snatched up left and right and a wanted poster reminds everyone of the strange life that Flash’s sidekick has lived.

In The Flash #9 by Simon Spurrier, Ramon Perez, and Vasco Georgiev, things continue to go from bad to worse for the Flash Family. As if it weren’t bad enough reality was facing numerous cosmic disasters, Amanda Waller has publicly laid the blame at the feet of the Flash and every other speedster.

Those who aren’t dealing with tears in space-time or other catastrophes are being monitored by the authorities. Flash’s sidekick Impulse has been declared a wanted criminal and a poster accusing him of “crimes against reality” is seen as the various speedsters deal with the chaos.

Flash’s Sidekick’s is a Wanted Criminal in the DC Universe

Impulse Attacks Inspector Pilgrim DC

It’s been a bad few months for DC’s speedsters. After Flash discovered new layers of reality known as the SpectraVerse, he became aware that speed powers could have a potentially devastating effect on reality. That seemed to prove true later when the SpectraVerse’s layers began bleeding into the Third Dimension. As the Flash Family responded to the mounting chaos in the DC Universe, Amanda Waller gathered information collected by Mister Terrific, who’d been studying the changes to reality. To advance her anti-metahuman agenda, Waller blamed the Flash and other speedsters, imploring them to stop running or face the consequences.

Impulse being called out for his crimes against reality is a humorous way of addressing Bart Allen’s supposed complicity in the speedsters’ damage to the DC Universe. But this poster is also a funny reminder of just how fast and loose Bart has played with DC history. Impulse’s has infamously traversed the timeline more than most speedsters and is pretty much immune to any changes to the time steam. Bart’s even grown up and temporarily served as the Flash (only to later regress in age). Out of all the Flash Family members, Impulse’s personal history is the most outrageous.

Impulse’s Wanted Poster Illuminates His Wild History

Impulse is far from the only speedster whose powers have allowed him to do some pretty wild things. But among the speedsters, Bart’s spontaneous nature coupled with his impressive speed have ultimately made him the Flash Family’s biggest ‘criminal’. Of course, the Flash Family’s speeds are likely not actually harming the DC Universe, but that doesn’t make the wanted poster any less true. He may not actively be hurting the world around him, but Flash’s ally Impulse definitely has quite a checkered past.

The Flash #9 is available now from DC Comics.
