Warning! Spoilers for My Adventures with Superman #1 ahead! One of the Justice League’s most infamous villains has finally been confirmed to be canon in the My Adventures with Superman universe. A tie-in adventure picks up right where the animated series’ first season left off and introduces a new antagonist that adds an interesting wrinkle to Anthony Ivo’s history.

In My Adventures with Superman #1 by Josie Campbell and Pablo M. Collar, something is wandering around Metropolis absorbing energy. Superman and his pals track the suspect down in the sewer where it confronts the Man of Steel head-on. Clark recognizes it as one of Anthony Ivo’s armors and begs whoever’s wearing it to take it off.

The armor, however, is sentient. Even more surprising, it absorbs and copies Superman’s powers. But as Superman fights the armor, it struggles to communicate a message to Clark. Before the military comes in and captures it, the armor begs Superman to help it.

My Adventures of Superman Finally Has Its ‘Amazo’

Amazo Asks Superman for Help DC

The first season of My Adventures with Superman introduced a number of classic foes, albeit with unique twists departing from the traditional DC Universe canon. Parasite, for instance, was updated to be a more tech-based villain. Instead of Parasite’s identity being Rudy Jones, this world’s version of Parasite is Anthony Ivo, CEO of AmazoTech. His company created an armor that can absorb energy and convert it into raw power on par with Superman’s strength. For all its power, it had the nasty side effect of altering Ivo’s body and turning him into an out-of-control monster that could reach kaiju-level proportions.

Despite the large presence that Ivo had in the first season, there was no indication he ever designed an Amazo. The only reference to his creation from the comics was Ivo’s company’s name. Beyond that, it looked like My Adventures with Superman completely glossed over Amazo. But this tie-in story has revealed that Ivo did at some point make an ‘Amazo’, likely while working out the kinks to create his similar power-absorbing Parasite suit. But now that it’s known that there is an Amazo in the My Adventures with Superman universe, the question is, what’s going to happen to it?

Is Amazo Going to Become a Superman Ally?

Amazo Trying to Ask Superman for Help DC

This story is set between the cartoon’s first two seasons and so far, nothing indicates what’s happened to Amazo. Perhaps it’s been imprisoned or just disassembled. But Superman never gives up on someone in need of help. There’s no doubt Clark is going to try and rescue the armor, and it’s very likely he’ll be successful. Instead of an enemy, maybe this universe’s Amazo will become an ally, something that could prove useful next time Superman fights Ivo. It’ll be interesting to see what will become of My Adventures with Superman’s take on this classic Justice League foe.

My Adventures with Superman #1 is available now from DC Comics.
