Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) has a style all his own in Breaking Bad, with nothing more notable than his collection of hoodies. Jesse Pinkman may be the best character in the entire Breaking Bad universe and that’s saying quite a bit considering Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), and of course, Walter White (Bryan Cranston) all have a case for being one of the top TV characters of all time. From falling off a roof in a pilot to driving off into the sunset in the epilogue film, Jesse has never disappointed.

Of the many incredible ways Vince Gilligan and his team (and Aaron Paul) developed the fully realized character of Jesse Pinkman, wardrobe may not be viewed as the most important aspect, but there was real thought put into what Jesse wears on a day-to-day basis when he takes off the yellow jumpsuit he cooks meth in. Barbie‘s Ken may have made hoodies fabulous, but Jesse’s hoodies have always been a sign of his lackadaisical attitude, participation in fringe cultures, and the cocoon he wraps himself in for protection. Whatever they mean, they certainly make a fashion statement.

Breaking Bad Cast: Ranked By Their Net Worth

How much money have Bob Odenkirk, Aaron Paul, Bryan Cranston, and the rest of the Breaking Bad cast amassed over the years? Here’s the rundown!

10

Plaid Flannel Shirt Hoodie Combination

First Appearance In Season 1, Episode 1, “Pilot”

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) looking out his car and raising an eyebrow in Breaking Bad.

When Jesse is first seen in the Breaking Bad pilot, he’s not wearing much, having just avoided the police by sneaking out of a house half-naked. However, the second time he’s seen, Jesse is wearing one of his hoodies and his iconic beanie, which eventually disappeared as the meth cook’s life fell apart. This hoodie is part sweatshirt and part flannel and, while likely comfortable, is grungy looking and not the most dapper of hoodies.

There’s nothing wrong with it, but it’s fairly unremarkable. It looks like the type of attire someone would quickly throw over their head on the way out the door to run to the gas station, which, for Jesse, was more or less what he was doing. His more “dazzling” hoodies would come later when he began to earn more money.

Where to buy: Temu offers a similar style of hoodie in a variety of colors, including one matching Jesse’s. Sizes range from M to 7XL, with prices from $10 to $14.

9

Dollar Pattern Hoodie

First Appearance In Season 3, Episode 8, “I See You”

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) wearing a dollar bill hoodie and standing on a ladder in Breaking Bad.

The dollar pattern hoodie only appears briefly in Breaking Bad in season 3, episode 8, “I See You”. It’s just after Walter fires Gale (David Costabile) and Jesse comes in at the worst possible time to introduce himself as Gale’s unprofessional and uncouth replacement. After Gale leaves, Walter also leaves to attend to Hank Schrader (Dean Norris) in the hospital, and Jesse returns later in the day wearing a hoodie with hundred dollar bills all over it.

It is as ostentatious as Jesse’s hoodies get. He’s literally wearing his heart’s desire on his sleeve. It’s pretty tacky, but it’s also kind of fun. From afar, it actually makes a very cool pattern, as the overlapping bills create a sort of camouflage look, but up close, each individual bill is too visible, meaning the photos of Benjamin Franklin are in sharp relief, creating an odd effect.

Where to buy: A similar hoodie to Jesse’s can be found on 84Hoods in sizes S-5XL for youths and adults. The cost is a standard $49.50.

8

Tan Graphic Hoodie

First Appearance In Season 3, Episode 9, “Kafkaesque”

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) wearing a tan hoodie and leaning forward and talking with cuts on his face in Breaking Bad.

Jesse wears this tan hoodie in season 3, episode 9, first when he’s talking to Saul in the nail salon and gets schooled about money laundering; then he’s seen wearing it during his Narcotics Anonymous meeting. It’s a light tan hoodie with gold and black designs on its sleeve and on the back. It’s a thin-looking hoodie that’s more like a cardigan than a heavy sweater and, therefore, a much different material than the kind Jesse usually wears.

While tan is not the prettiest color for outerwear, the black and yellow designs on the arms are very eye-catching, and give the hoodie more depth and artistry. It looks like the type of hoodie to be worn on a summer night or around a campfire, too thin to provide much more warmth on any colder day.

Where to buy: Grailed is selling a hoodie in a similar style, with brownish fabric, and Asian-inspired decals. The only available size is a men’s medium and it costs $399 plus shipping.

7

Red And Black Shiny Hoodie

First Appearance In Season 2, Episode 1, “Seven Thirty-Seven”

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) looking furious and wearing a shing black and red hoodie.

Jesse Pinkman likes red. He has a lot of red shirts, his signature beanie has a rim of red, he drove a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo in season 1 — he even added red chili powder to his meth in his early days. If Jesse Pinkman was in the business of giving life advice, he’d probably suggest to always bet on red. He even has two signature red hoodies. One appears in the first two episodes of season 2 when Tuco (Raymond Cruz) abducts him and Walt.

It’s a shiny red and black jacket that boasts a metallic sheen. The inside of the hood is red with black graphic designs, while the outside is primarily black with red graphic designs. Down the arms is a thick red line. It’s a heavier-looking hoodie but definitely a statement. It’s also interesting that Jesse’s first very violent act, nearly killing Tuco, is done with him wearing a hoodie that looks like it’s dripping blood.

Where to buy: The closest version of this hoodie can be found on Etsy for $64.00 but only in large (and without a hood).

6

Kenpo Brand Hoodie

First Appearance In Season 2, Episode 5, “Breakage”

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) looking down while wearing a black and white hoodie in Breaking Bad.-1

Jesse Pinkman wears the Kenpo brand hoodie in season 2, episode 5 when he first meets Jane Margolis (Krysten Ritter) while looking for a home to rent. It’s a good thing he chose this Kenpo pieces because if Jesse was wearing one of his louder hoodies, Jane may have been completely turned off. As it were, his Kenpo brand hoodie is actually one of his more subtle and elegant. It’s black and white, with crowns and symbols of wealth printed all over it.

The inside of the hood is dark gray, and it’s likely Jesse specifically picked this hoodie while house hunting as his version of dressing up. It’s a nice piece of clothing and shows that Jesse can at least somewhat read a situation. As nice as it is, it certainly feels the least “Pinkman”, so it’s never seen again.

Where to buy: The same hoodie style used in the show is available on Depop for the hefty sum of $10,000 and it’s only available in large of XL.

5

White Skull Jacket With Red Roses

First Appearance In Season 2, Episode 11, “Mandala”

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) and Jane (Krysten Ritter) sitting in bed in Breaking Bad.

Jesse wears this hoodie with a large white skull and printed red roses on it to Los Pollos Hermanos, and his erratic behavior makes Gus decide he doesn’t want to work with Walter. Jesse is then seen wearing it again while sitting with Jane in bed. It’s one of his largest hoodies and feels like it’s threatening to swallow him whole while he has it on. It’s in this episode that Jesse’s struggles with addiction begin to become more apparent and hiding away in an oversized hoodie is a visual of his growing paranoia.

It’s still a good-looking hoodie and the black and white skull and red roses are all drawn with clean, striking lines. It looks like it was crafted by a talented tattoo artist and appears different depending on which angle it’s being viewed from or whether it’s zipped up or not.

Where to buy: A similar hoodie is available from KaliSpace for $54.99 from small to 4XL.

4

Hope And Faith Hoodie Jacket

First Appearance In Season 2, Episode 7, “Negro y Azul”

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) leaning over Jane (Krysten Ritter) as she reads in a yellow and black hoodie in Breaking Bad.

The Hope and Faith hoodie is a yellow and black hoodie with yellow and gold fleur-de-lis lines scrawled all over the black fabric. It’s a very long hoodie and goes down nearly past Jesse’s knees. He wears it in season 2, episode 7, and a few times after, mostly around Jane. It’s a much more colorful hoodie than he usually wears, and yellow is not often seen on Jesse (other than when he wears his Hazmat suit), so it’s a nice change of pace. The interior of the hoodie is black.

It’s a great-looking article of clothing and looks comfortable as well. The yellow-gold and black go well together, and it looks a bit like something Tuco would wear. The fractal patterns scribbled all over the hoodie make for an interesting visual and cover most of the fabric, giving it a rich and full depth.

Where to buy: Ebay has a similar-looking hoodie available in sizes small to 4XL, ranging in price from $59.50 to $63.50.

3

El Camino Black And Red Hoodie Jacket

First Appearance In Season 5, Episode 11, “Confessions”

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) looking over his shoulder worried in a black and red hoodie in Breaking Bad.

This is Jesse Pinkman’s other red and black hoodie, and it’s suitably darker and more sinister-looking considering the place in life Jesse is at when he wears it. In season 5, episode 11, Jesse wears the hoodie out to the desert to meet with Walt and Saul to split for good. He then has it on until he’s imprisoned by Uncle Jack’s (Michael Bowen) gang in episode 14. It’s a black hoodie with dark, blood-red inlays that are carved like shoulder straps into the sweater.

It’s an ominous piece of clothing, something that Jesse could easily get blood on and not even notice, but it is a beautiful piece of costuming. It’s also one of his best-fitting hoodies, perfect for travel, which was his intention until he realized at the vacuum salesman pickup that Walter had lied to him and set off to burn his house down.

Where to buy: The El Camino hoodie is available for purchase at William Jacket for $149.00 in sizes ranging from small to 3XL.

2

Yellow Hoodie With Graffiti

First Appearance In Season 3, Episode 11, “Abiquiu”

The beginning of Breaking Bad season 3, episode 11 is a sad one. It’s a flashback to a much happier time in Jesse’s life. It depicts a day when he and Jane went to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum together and where Jesse wears a banana-yellow hoodie with black graphic designs spread across it. That may sound garish, but the pairing works and is one of the brightest pieces of clothing Jesse has. It’s like it’s his “date hoodie” that he only pulls out for special occasions, which explains why it’s never seen again.

The hoodie is the same yellow color as the Hazmat suits he wears for his meth cooks. Once, he wore that yellow for someone he loved. Now that color represents a completely different life. Jesse could have picked between two yellow outfits, and by picking meth over days at the Georgia O’Keefe Museum, he doomed both himself and Jane. Still, it’s a pretty swanky-looking hoodie.

Where to buy: Etsy has a similar hoodie in mustard yellow in sizes small to 3XL, with prices ranging from $88.00 to $93.00.

1

Volcom Ryan Sheckler Co. Op Zip-Up Hooded Sweatshirt

First Appearance In Season 2, Episode 4, “Down”

Jesse Pinkman’s Volcom Ryan Sheckler Co. Op Zip-Up Hooded Sweatshirt is his best hoodie in Breaking Bad. Not his best outfit — that goes to the awesome leather jacket he sports in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie — but it’s his most stylish hoodie with the most personality. The fabric is white, but it’s covered in multiple graphic designs of a variety of colors, making it look like a young school student’s notebook covered in cartoons.

While most of Jesse’s hoodie choices in Breaking Bad scream “drug dealer”, this hoodie screams “art student” and maybe that’s why it’s his best one. At one point in his life, Jesse was something of an artist. He carved a beautiful box, and he was even a decent illustrator. This hoodie seems to be representative of the Jesse that has been lost and replaced by a troubled young man.

Where to buy: This style of hoodie is available at Depop for $153.00 in a large.
