Warning! Spoilers for My Adventures with Superman #1 ahead!A fan-favorite character infamously portrayed by Idris Elba is now canon in My Adventures with Superman. DC Comics has expanded the beloved animated series’ world with a new tie-in series that bridges its first and second seasons. This new story introduces an ominous character that could turn out to be a huge threat to Superman in the future.

In My Adventures with Superman #1 by Josie Campbell and Pablo M. Collar, Clark, Lois, and Jimmy notice something is running amok in Metropolis. They track it through the sewers and discover that one of Anthony Ivo’s prototypes has gotten loose after becoming sentient.

Superman fights the armor, but it’s eventually brought down and collected by a mysterious sharpshooter. The man tells Superman that the military has it from here and vaguely threatens Clark’s friends to get him to comply. From a distance, Amanda Waller talks to her enforcer Slade Wilson, who recognizes the sharpshooter as a man named ‘DuBois’.

My Adventures with Superman Has Subtly Introduced Bloodsport

Bloodsport Threatens Superman and Friends DC

My Adventures with Superman is a modern reinvention of the Man of Steel’s mythos that focuses on the early days of Clark’s heroic career and his bond with his closest friends, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. The first season saw Clark officially reveal himself to the world and use his powers for good after he discovered it was besieged by threats such as Livewire and Intergang, not to mention Amanda Waller and Task Force X. However, even with all these threats around him, Superman has risen to the challenge and become the hero that Metropolis needs.

To be fair, the man who shoots the prototype armor isn’t called by his codename from the comics. But as a sharpshooter named DuBois serving as a foil to Superman, it’s pretty obvious that he’s supposed to be Bloodsport. Fans may recall Bloodsport was infamously portrayed by Idris Elba in the 2021 film The Suicide Squad. But even more importantly, Robert DuBois is best known for once shooting the Man of Steel with a kryptonite bullet in their first fight. DuBois’ presence in the My Adventures with Superman universe could prove to be a serious threat to Clark.

Is Bloodsport Going to Repeat His Most Infamous Attack on Superman?

Thankfully for Clark, kryptonite is pretty rare in the animated series and only small slivers have been found. However, with Superman becoming more and more powerful, his enemies are searching for more effective ways to deal with him. DuBois has already proven he’s just as good a shot in this universe as he is in other adaptations. All it would take is a little bit of kryptonite and Bloodsport could easily take Superman out before he ever sees it coming. Hopefully, Clark will be prepared the next time he encounters Bloodsport in My Adventures with Superman.

My Adventures with Superman #1 is available now from DC Comics.
