Spider-Man has had a great number of costume changes throughout his Marvel Comics history, from the classic red and blue to the iconic black symbiote Spider-Man suit, yet one stands above the rest as having the longest-lasting legacy while being shamefully short-lived: the Spider-Armor. Otherwise known as the ‘Steel Spider’ or MK1 Armor, this suit only lasted a single issue, yet has withstood the test of time in the collective hearts of the fandom, including one cosplayer, who elevated this fan-favorite suit to all-new heights.

In an Instagram post by user Josh Khan (handle: @maximum.khanage), a series of images were shared featuring the cosplayer wearing the Steel Spider Armor. Everything from the steel plated armor and intricate designs to the very energy of the cosplayer wearing it, making it feel as though Peter Parker is actually inside that armor, contributes to how absolutely jaw-dropping this cosplay truly is.

As if creating and then wearing a movie-quality Spider-Armor wasn’t evidence enough, the caption accompanying the images in this post proves how much of a fan this cosplayer is of the Spider-Armor. The caption quotes a line of dialogue said by Steel Spider when that version of Spider-Man made an appearance in the ‘90s animated series. And now, this cosplayer is contributing to the lore of this costume by literally bringing the Steel Spider to life in truly spectacular fashion.

Steel Spider Spider-Man Cosplay Contributes to the Suit’s Lasting Legacy

The Steel Spider Armor First Appeared in Web of Spider-Man #100 by Terry Kavanagh and Alex Savilik

In the comics, Spider-Man built the Steel Spider Armor to fight the New Enforcers, a team of supervillains who were shockingly powerful, despite their lack of notoriety. While the suit worked well for Spidey’s initial attack against the New Enforcers, they quickly destroyed the armor, only for Spider-Man to defeat them in his classic suit. It was a short stint in Marvel Comics canon, but the appearance of this suit became utterly iconic, and this cosplay is contributing toward that lasting legacy.

Spider-Man’s Spider-Armor Cosplay Reminds Fans This Suit DOES Exist in the MCU (Sort of)

Spider-Man's Spider Armor from Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

Not only is this cosplay the best version of the Spider-Armor ever brought to life, but the quote in the caption reminds fans that this suit actually exists in a corner of the MCU multiverse – specifically, in its animation. With X-Men ‘97 establishing every ‘90s animated series as canon, that means Spider-Man: The Animated Series exists in the MCU multiverse. And, as the quote in this Instagram post just reminded fans, that includes the Steel Spider.

The Steel Spider was one of the Spider-Man variants collected by Madame Web during the final story arc in Spider-Man: The Animated Series. Since the MCU has been known to jump back and forth between animation and live-action with the same versions of established characters (as evidenced in the What If…? series), it’s very possible that Steel Spider from Spider-Man: The Animated Series could get the live-action treatment as well. And if he does, then this cosplay should stand as the blueprint for how Steel Spider should look in live-action.

While the prospect of pulling an animated Steel Spider from Spider-Man: The Animated Series and throwing him into the live-action landscape of the MCU is a bit of a stretch (though Spider-Man: No Way Home proves something like that isn’t impossible), fans shouldn’t worry about whether they’ll see the Spider-Armor brought to life. The reason being that it already has, as Spider-Man’s Spider-Armor costume has never looked better than this cosplay.
