Gremlins: The Wild Batch, the animated Gremlins prequel, reveals its release window in an exciting new update. Developed by Tze Chun, with original Gremlins director Joe Dante involved as a consulting producer, the prequel was titled Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai for season 1. The story focuses on how the 10-year-old Sam Wing first met Gizmo, with its first 10 episodes debuting in May 2023 on the Max streaming service.
Max Family has announced that the newly-titled Gremlins: The Wild Batch will debut this coming fall.
A more specific release date was not mentioned in the short video, though the announcement itself was tied to the 40th anniversary of the original Gremlins on June 8.

Gizmo Is Joined By Sam & Elle
The new season centers around the characters of Gizmo, Sam, and Elle. The trio travels from their home in Shanghai to San Francisco. That promises to bring an even greater sense of mystery, magic, and mayhem as well. That’s particularly true since the latest adventure comes on the heels of a new brood of evil Mogwai, with the heroic trio having to venture into the American West and face off against supernatural creatures and other new faces.
The voice cast for the Gremlins animated prequel includes Raya and the Last Dragon‘s Izaac Wang as the voice of Sam, The Mandalorian‘s Ming-Na Wen, meanwhile, voices Sam’s mother Fong, and Jurassic Park‘s BD Wong as Sam’s father Hon. James Hong voices as Grandpa, a free-spirited elder who knows the power and secrets of the Mogwai. The characters of Elle and Gizmo are voiced by Gabrielle Nevaeh and A.J. LoCascio, respectively. The upcoming installment will also feature a notable guest cast, which will be announced at a later date.
