Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow art brings to life one of the Girl of Steel’s most popular comic book covers in live-action with Milly Alcock in the DC Universe. As Superman is getting reimagined for Gunn’s DC Universe, DC Studios is also working on bringing Supergirl back for the big screen. Earlier this year, Alcock landed the titular role in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie, with Craig Gillespie set to direct the heroine’s solo film, which was penned by Ana Nogueira.

According to recent reports, Supergirl. Woman of Tomorrow is looking to start shooting later this year, as the film is set to release in June 2026. As the world waits for new details on Alcock’s DC Universe film, Jobhutz shared new artwork of the House of the Dragon actress as the Girl of Steel.

Jobhutz’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow concept poster is a direct adaptation and homage to the cover of Kara’s DC Comics series of the same name, which was written by Tom King, with art by Bilquis Evely. The specific cover that is being used is Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1, which was released on June 15, 2021.

Supergirl will be joining the DCU in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and there are certain elements of her classic look that should be joining her.

How The DC Universe Is Adapting Supergirl. Woman Of Tomorrow

The Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie became one of the first DC Universe films to be announced, and is also the only one that is drawing more specifically from an established comic run. While other DC Universe movies and TV shows are drawing inspiration from various comics based on Gunn’s comments, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the closest to a full-on adaptation. King, who wrote the comic book series, is also working on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as an architect.

One of the core elements from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow that Gunn has already confirmed for the live-action counterpart is the grittier take on Kara compared to previous versions of her. Similar to the comic, Alcock’s Supergirl will be, according to Gunn, “a much harsher and more f—ked up Supergirl than we’ve been used to this far.” Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is also seemingly tackling the outer space setting that is explored in Kara’s mini-series.

As David Zaslav confirmed earlier this year, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is casting other roles, too; characters like Ruthye Marye Knoll are likely the next announcement that will be coming out of the film ahead of filming. It will also be fascinating to see if Alcock’s Supergirl will get any setup through the Superman movie, as she is heavily rumored to be making her DC Universe debut in the 2025 installment. Hopefully, DC Studios will have more to announce soon about Supergirl. Woman of Tomorrow as the movie starts getting closer to starting principal photography.
