Ermes Costello, first introduced in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Stone Ocean, is a fellow prison resident along with the main character and first female JoJo, Jolyne Cujoh, in Part Six of the series. She is strong, determined, and possesses one of the best and most unique Stands titled Kiss. Her character design in the signature JoJo’s art style is vibrant and colorful, represented well in a recent cosplay by Reddit user, u/PugoffkaCos.

The cosplay starts off with a green vest top that is open at the front to reveal a yellow and black-striped tank top underneath. u/PugoffkaCos also wears a dark pair of pants and a wig that matches Ermes’ hair in the anime identically. There are chunky golden arm cuffs around the cosplayer’s arms.

Their makeup is also very anime-accurate, with striking green lipstick and black comic book-style lines that give the cosplayer the appearance of being an animated character from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The most prominent aspect of the look is the small pink square in their hand.

The Sticker in the Cosplayer’s Hand is a Crucial Aspect of Ermes’ Stand, Kiss

The little pink square they are holding has white outlines around the border and a dark pink lip icon in the center. The small square is a detail inspired by Ermes’ Stand, Kiss. Kiss has a duplication ability and can create two of any object using little square stickers. Once Ermes subtly places a sticker on an item, it duplicates, and she can remove the sticker anytime she wants, melding the copies back into one object. Ermes uses this ability cleverly numerous times in the series to help Jolyne and their friends escape from Green Dolphin Street Prison to try to stop Pucci.

In the cosplay, u/PugoffkaCos wears a persistent, motivated expression that fits well with Ermes’ demeanor in Stone Ocean, as she is a driven character who never gives up. Motivated by the death of her sister, Gloria, Ermes swore to stop at nothing to seek justice for her beloved sister’s unfortunate murder. As well as caring deeply for her family, Ermes also possessed excellent fighting skills, both in combat and using her Stand, Kiss. She was one of the most helpful friends Jolyne had by her side and played a monumental role in helping Jolyne escape the prison.

The cosplay gives a perfect depiction of Ermes Costello, exactly as she appears in the animated series adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Every last aspect of her physical appearance, from her colorful outfit to the intricate sticker detail that hints at her Stand, Kiss, comes alive vibrantly in the look. u/PugoffkaCos also wears a purposeful facial expression and stands in a persistent pose that makes Ermes‘ personality clear through body language. This often underrated but very important and complex JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure character deserved her time to shine, and she definitely received it in this cosplay.
