A wild new MCU theory suggests that bringing the Scarlet Witch back could help to solve one of Marvel Studios’ biggest challenges, despite the danger this could pose to many powerful heroes. Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch has been a fan favorite since her debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, her spectacular journey over eight years culminated in the Scarlet Witch’s death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Nevertheless, there has been speculation that the powerful witch will return so as not to end her story on such a down note.

Some of the Scarlet Witch’s biggest storylines from Marvel Comics have yet to be explored in live-action, so it would be brilliant to see Elizabeth Olsen return to continue developing the MCU’s Wanda Maximoff. If this does occur, perhaps in Marvel Television’s upcoming WandaVision spinoffs, Agatha All Along and a new Vision series, the Scarlet Witch could continue her redemption arc, seeking to protect the multiverse from catastrophic incursion events. A new theory explains exactly how she can continue this conquest, but this could spell bad news for several formidable heroes in the MCU.

The Scarlet Witch Could Target Sorcerers With Her House Of M Storyline In The MCU

Marvel Comics’ House Of M Saw Mutants Become Superior Before Their Powers Were Stolen By The Scarlet Witch

A new theory (via FandomWire) suggests that Marvel Studios could adapt Marvel Comics’ iconic House of M event when the Scarlet Witch returns to the MCU. During this event, the Scarlet Witch created an alternate world in which mutants were the dominant species on Earth and where nobody remembered their previous lives, except for Wolverine. Eventually, enough heroes learned the truth of their fabricated existence and waged war on the “House of M”, led by Magneto, prompting the Scarlet Witch to utter the words, “No More Mutants,” stripping many powerful characters of their mutant abilities.

Instead of targeting the MCU’s mutants, since there aren’t too many accounted for just yet, the theory suggests that the Scarlet Witch could instead rid the world of its sorcerers. This would perhaps adapt her iconic line to “No More Sorcerers,” but this would have a similarly wide-reaching impact on the world of the MCU as the aftermath of the House of M event did on Marvel Comics’ world. After her recent experiences with various magic users in the MCU’s Phase 4, the Scarlet Witch has insight into just how much danger these characters pose to the multiverse.

The Scarlet Witch Wiping Out Sorcerers Would Totally Change The MCU

There Are A Huge Number Of Sorcerers & Magic-Users In The MCU

Should the Scarlet Witch strip the MCU’s sorcerers and magic users of their abilities upon her return, the landscape of the franchise will be significantly altered. There are a great many sorcerers in the MCU that would be affected, most notably Doctor Strange, Wong, and the Masters of the Mystic Arts, who have become the face of magic in the MCU since their debuts in 2016’s Doctor Strange. Both Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch threatened the fabric of the multiverse in Phase 4, especially by using the Darkhold, so this could be Wanda’s way of preventing more damage.

There are a myriad of magic-using heroes and villains that would be impacted by the Scarlet Witch’s attack on the MCU’s sorcerers. Phase 4 introduced new magic-users, including Agatha Harkness, America Chavez, and even Ned Leeds, so all these characters could be affected by the Scarlet Witch’s wide-reaching spell. The MCU’s god-like characters could also lose their abilities, as the likes of the Asgardians and Moon Knight also harness magical abilities. Without sorcerers in the MCU, the question is raised as to whether this would protect the multiverse or actually put it in even more danger.

Scarlet Witch’s MCU House Of M Story Could Fix The Franchise’s Multiverse Problem For The Time Being

The Scarlet Witch Could Remove The Individuals Causing Incursion Events In The Multiverse Saga

Scarlet Witch surrounded by candles dream-walking in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced the concept of incursions to the MCU, as described by John Krasinski’s Reed Richards variant from Earth-838. Marvel Studios has already teased several potential incursion events that could cause a huge amount of devastation in Phase 6’s Avengers: Secret Wars, and, for the most part, these events have been caused by sorcerers. Most notably, Doctor Strange and his variants have been at the center of several incursion events, culminating in the destruction of a number of universes, so the Scarlet Witch taking sorcerers’ power could thwart these incursions.

This means that Marvel Studios adapting the House of M event to target sorcerers instead of mutants could enable the Scarlet Witch to solve one of the MCU’s biggest challenges. Wanda could, quite simply, save the entire multiverse, at least for the time being, by removing the individuals causing the destructive incursion events. Of course, removing sorcerers from the MCU would create bigger problems further down the line, so this likely wouldn’t be a permanent change, but this would be a great way for the Scarlet Witch to continue her redemption arc when she returns to the MCU.
