Two of the most hardcore antiheroes in Marvel Comics history are unarguably Venom and Ghost Rider, as both viciously eliminate evildoers wherever they find them, while inspiring unparalleled terror and utter dread in those they spare. And now, one piece of fanart imagines the two brutal protectors of the innocent as one terrifying entity – and the vision of this amalgamated monster is way too metal for Marvel.

In an Instagram post by user Kode Abdo (handle: @bosslogic), the artist posts an image featuring Venom and Ghost Rider as one person. The Venom symbiote pulls itself over the flaming skull of Ghost Rider as if consuming him, drool and hellfire spilling from both their mouths.

The Venom/Ghost Rider also seems to be lunging at something or someone, which allows fans the chance to see this demon/alien hybrid in action. Depicting movement makes the Venom/Ghost Rider far more terrifying than they would be if this was just a still image, and seeing the Venom symbiote in the middle of being unleashed overtop Ghost Rider is an excellent detail that makes the fanart more hardcore.

Venom/Ghost Rider Fanart isn’t the First Time the Two Have Merged

Edge of Venomverse #3 by Simon Spurrier and Tigh Walker

The way the Venom/Ghost Rider hybrid is depicted in this fanart is way more heavy metal than anything fans have seen from a character like this before, though it isn’t the first time fans have seen a Venom/Ghost Rider hybrid. During the Edge of Venomverse storyline, readers are taken to an alternate universe where Robbie Reyes is possessed by both the satanic entity that made him a Ghost Rider and the Venom symbiote, turning him into ‘Host Rider’.

Host Rider had a number of unique abilities that made him utterly terrifying in the eyes of his enemies. The Ghost Rider half made the symbiote immune to fire, which meant that Reyes had a flaming Venom tongue and the ability to wield hellfire in his hands. Host Rider also has his own version of the ‘Penance Stare’ called the ‘Penance Kiss’, which allows him to suck the sins out of his victims. Plus, his Hellcharger is Venomized as well, and even has the ability to literally eat people.

Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider/Venom Merged with This Fanart Would Be Too R-Rated for Marvel

Venom/Ghost Rider hybrid cornering their victims.

The powers and storyline of Host Rider in Edge of Venomverse were absurdly brutal, but the artwork was pretty mild, as is the standard for comics meant for readers of all ages. Inversely, the artwork of the Ghost Rider/Venom hybrid featured in this fanart is incredibly detailed and insanely hardcore, though fans aren’t given any context surrounding it. If the art style of the fanart merged with the powers and storyline of Host Rider, fans would be given the most heavy metal version of this hybrid character – one that would easily be too R-rated for Marvel Comics’ main imprint.

Even without bringing context into it by looking at past versions of a Ghost Rider/Venom hybrid in Marvel Comics, this fanart stands on its own merits as bringing the most brutal version of this character to life. Perhaps fans will see something of this caliber brought into Marvel’s main continuity in the form of a MAX imprint or something similar specifically for a mature readership. Though as it stands, fans shouldn’t hold their breath, as this Venom/Ghost Rider hybrid fanart is way too metal for Marvel Comics.
