Netflix’s teen drama series Raising Voices is full of difficult and impactful themes, and its cast is tasked with driving these home. The show, which is based on the novel Ni Una Más by Miguel Sáez Carral, follows a teenager named Alma after her very public accusation of sexual assault. Created by José Manuel Lorenzo and directed by Eduard Cortés, David Ulloa, and Marta Font, Raising Voices depends on a cast that includes Nicole Wallace, Clara Galle, Aïcha Villaverde, and more to tell its heavy and important story.
Raising Voices begins with protagonist Alma hanging a banner across the entrance to her high school that reads, “Beware! A rapist is hiding here,” setting the institution, its staff, and students into a frenzy. From here, the Netflix series runs out of order, slowly revealing the truth about what happened to Alma the night she left a party while intoxicated and how this ties in with the experiences and abuse of her friends. Raising Voices is a heavy-hitting teen drama with a big story to tell, and it couldn’t do so without its talented cast.
